Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa.According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.Chief U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia, of the Western Judicial District of Texas, was notified about the death from the U.S. Marshals Service. U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death."I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's very unfortunate. It's unfortunate with any death, and politically in the presidential cycle we're in, my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."The U.S. Marshal Service, the Presidio County sheriff and the FBI were involved in the investigation.Officials with the law enforcement agencies declined to comment.
Well regardless, that lets Obama appoint a liberal Judge in the Court.

A true hero, one of the few men who stood against the gay-progressive narrative that's destroying this country. RIP
Prepare for the shitstorm, boys

The GOP in the Senate are not going to give the Democrats and Obama any victory prior to the election - they have no need to. There is no Congressional requirement to approve a justice within a certain amount of time.On top of that, there is the Thurmond Rule in play.

How about you actually make an argument for something instead of pretending supporting something deemed progressive makes you better?
I don't see why gay marriage would both you, especially in the US where conventional marriages resort in 50% divorces. If two people love each other, regardless of race or gender, why should it matter to you personally who gets married?
Considering I have a gay uncle, a few gay friends, and am bisexual myself, I don't really see the big deal with it. Last I checked the constitution said all men are created equal, and people should get equal protection under the law. And sadly to say in your case, many states had already swung in favor of it, a lot doing so in less than 5 years. It was inevitable that the Supreme Court would make it legal across the entire country, and the voices that are against it are slowly dying out.
Our northern neighbors (aka America 2.0) is laughing at us for complaining over something they settled more than a decade ago.
t's not about me supporting something seen as "progressive" for the sake of supporting progressive movements. It's about what I feel is morally right.
Edit: Give me ONE legitimate reason why it is wrong? Why it is so evil? That's why I feel it makes me better than those against it. Because who are we to say people can't get married if they love each other? Especially when marriage in this country is already shallow and messed up as it is? It's not anymore "holy" for a man and woman than it is two men or two women. This isn't the 1900's anymore. Marriage isn't seen as some sacred thing now a days, and today's people don't feel obligated to get married to live a normal life anymore.
This is the guy who was pissed because gays can marry now.
Haven't mentioned a morally right thing? Well considering you're so ready to say everyone who is gay = a degenerate, I'm not sure much of what I say CAN be seen as legit in your eyes. Even though I mentioned our constitution, equal protection under the law, everyone being treated fairly (which you know is not the case at all with the LGBT community, especially in work places).
I mentioned that it's the right thing to do and we don't have any right to say who can and cannot love each other. It doesn't affect you at all, so why should you so up in arms about it? You're just coming off as some close minded bigot, casting everyone who is gay as evil or wrong.
And biased views? Buddy I thought I was straight until around 4 years ago, and the gay friends I mentioned I only met around 2 years ago. My uncle being gay growing up didn't make me question it at all because he was rarely around and I was too young to even understand the significance of being gay and straight.
I grew up somewhat religious, going to church until I was 10, but thankfully I never got anything shoved down my throat that I should hate an entire group of people because of who they are. The swinger thing isn't something I have a problem with, gay OR straight. It's your own personal business what you do with your partner, as long as both of you are on the same page.
Going back to the morally right thing about gay marriage, I've not seen you mention why it's wrong other than gays = bad or "marriage is an old tradition we should keep" simply for the sake of keeping it. Regardless of which side you stand on, marriage in today's world isn't as big as it used to be. Culture has a lot to do with marriage, and it always has.
Dumb move on the Republican's side. Current polls have them losing 2016 badly. Both Bernie and Hillary are more liberal than Obama. This is one of those cut your losses moments
Quote from: Thunder on February 13, 2016, 04:31:27 PMThis is the guy who was pissed because gays can marry now.His opposition was to the Supreme Court effectively writing legislation, co-opting the democratic process for the sake of a popular decision rather than a constitutional one. His issue was with the means rather than the end. Being angry about the Supreme Court decision is not at all tantamount to being homophobic.
