<.<
And the shitstorm resumes.

*sigh*
Yeah, well imagine the people who have to live their entire lives dealing with this kind of bullcrap on a regular basis.
Gee, I wonder where those mental problems actually come from.

Oh, I know <.<
I'm fairly certain that a large part of Dysphoria is directly rooted in the ignorant mistreatment that people receive for being different. As you highlighted, people just need to treat others with more respect ._.
Spoiler
The reason I sighed was because it's irritating how inevitable the degradation of these conversations is, it stifles any actual debate/information with petty semantic sniping and the usual insult slinging.

Right, and that's exactly why you respond the way you do.
Like the way you misgendered Noelle in plug.dj and other places. Totally not trying to stir up anger, right?

Don't make me start quoting things from this thread.
I call Noel "he" because I don't recognize transgenderism as a legitimate change of gender. Not trying to stir up anything, just standing by my beliefs.

That's not what defines a disorder, though.

We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty
and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
"Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.."
I suppose we all thought that one way or another.

Misgendering and knowingly using the wrong name is purposely stirring up trouble.
Hey, basic human respect anybody?

Hey guys, could you call me God? That's my preferred title.

It makes me feel uncomfortable when you don't, so... You have to.
It's called respect.

If I said that I believed I was a bear at heart, and demanded you call me "it", and that my new name was "Rrrragh", would you do that? Same exact thing.

Generally "it" is a bit offensive though, so I might use "they" instead.

I'm sorry this isn't going the path or your usual political shitfests where everyone makes fun of Kinder.

No matter how hard I try, I can not bring myself to refer to an individual with a plural pronoun.
I've since found it much simpler to just not use pronouns for trans people at all, even if it looks a tad unnatural. Nobody gets offended and my inner grammar nazi is satisfied.

Actually the original definition of they/them/their was both singular and plural. It wasn't until recently that it was changed. Plus, say there's a mystery person whose gender you're unaware of. How would most people talk about them?

"the mysterious stranger said they were coming for a visit"

Um, no. I'm a supporter of the LGBT community.

I really don't do that anymore, and I'm sure Kinder will support that for me. I got tired of that a while back, and keep it to Anarchy now. Also, stop being such a sanctimonious prick - I actually like you. You can't pin the actions of posters on me when it suits your caricature of me as some Machiavellian discord-sower.

Well sorry if I'm a little peeved to see the path this thread immediately went before I got more involved.

If by "the path" you mean Challenger and Class expressing their opinions, you seriously need to calm down. Are transgendered persons the victims of abuse? Yes, unfortunately routinely. Is having a discussion, wherein a few people express their belief that it is a mental disorder, abuse? No. Absolutely not.

"the mysterious stranger said they were coming for a visit"
Singular they is to be discouraged at all times, yet may be acceptable when noun/pronoun disagreement cannot be avoided.

Anyway, the sentence still instinctively reads as if multiple people are coming.

I would actually blame the American education system for attempting to change the definition to solely plural, yes.

emigrate or degenerate. the choice is yours
If they're transgender and happy, who cares?

If they're transgender and unhappy, treat them.

That's pretty much all there is to it.
