I think there are a few cases where it is justifiable, I can't elaborate at half three in the morning but remind me tomorrow and I'll go over the ones that come to mind.

It is of course something that shouldn't be done lightly and when I mean a few cases I mean literally a handful not as a generalising scheme.

(i.e. Not sterilising all the black people like they used to in parts of the good ol' USA, but some individuals should be sterilised for their own wellbeing.)

Surprised people haven't suggested only sterilizing convicted rapists.
Not saying we should, but that seems to be one of the only possible defendable options.
Of course, that would SUCK for the wrongly convicted.

Chemical Castration > Sterilisation.
You want to take the urge out of the rapist, not prevent them from having children as that's more of a side issue.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
I think Utopia did a good job of rationalizing something similar (although this was going to a secret organisation sterilizing on a global scale). To continue humanities survival at such comfort (1st world standards, with relative peace), large populations had to be sterilized, randomly, so that the global population would suddenly decrease over the next generation, thus saving us in general.

I have no problem with the sterilization of convicted rapists.
