You don't have rights in school.  If I had First Amendment rights in school I wouldn't have gotten in trouble for calling a teacher's argument for social justice "bullshit" my sophomore year.

And even some of my friends at my church think that the pledge shouldn't exist.  According to them you're supposed to pledge yourself to God's kingdom, not a secular nation.

I don't think pledging to your country or god has anything to do with the education process and shouldn't be included at all.

I wouldn't take it quite that far, but I do find the whole idea of a 'mandatory' pledge in the supposed land of the free quite amusing >.>
