I'm just going by the video of Nigel saying that they want to remove the NHS and replace it with the absolutelydisgusting.jpg US model of healthcare.
The National Health Serviceβ UKIP will ensure the NHS is free at the point of delivery and time of need for all UK residents.β We will stop further use of PFI in the NHS and encourage local authorities to buy out their PFI contracts early where this is affordable.β We will ensure that GPsβ surgeries are open at least one evening per week, where there is demand for it.β UKIP opposes plans to charge patients for visiting their GP.βWe will ensure that visitors to the UK, and migrants until they have paid NI for five years, have NHS-approved private health insurance as a condition of entry to the UK, saving the NHS Β£2bn pa. UKIP will commit to spending Β£200m of the Β£2bn saving to end hospital car parking charges in England.β We will replace Monitor and the Care Quality Commission with elected county health boards to be more responsive scrutineers of local health services. These will be able to inspect health services and take evidence from whistle-blowers.β UKIP opposes the sale of NHS data to third parties.β We will ensure foreign health service professionals coming to work in the NHS are properly qualified and can speak English to a standard acceptable to the profession.β UKIP will amend working time rules to give trainee doctors, surgeons and medics the proper environment to train and practise.β There will be a duty on all health service staff to report low standards of care.

Hokai, I'll clear a few things up.Of course the US isn't being turned into britain, what Farage was outlining in that interview was turning the UK into the USA. Me no likey.Firearms were never totally banned, we still have shotguns and rifles etc for sporting/farmers. What we don't have are handguns, you know, the firearm with which the most crimes are committed per capita. What I don't want to see is the sudden reintroduction of handguns to the UK when it's pretty unnecessary to do so.

As for handguns, I guess it's a cultural thing. If I wasn't allowed to keep a Glock in my glove box while driving downtown at 2:00 a.m. I'd feel significantly less safe.
And yeah, it's one of those things where the most anyone on the street is ever likely to be packing is either a boxcutter or their carkeys. Knives are fairly common mind you, but you can walk away from a knife fight a lot more easily than you can from a gunfight >.>
