Progressives have always been something of a dangerous element. Right the way back to the Montagnards there has been problems with pursuing 'progress' so vigorously.

Hell, if you define progress by movement away from the status quo, a lot of conservatives like Newt Gingrich are really just progressives with a different ideological twang.
