ive been a burnout and a loser since graduating high school (i was a loser when i was still in high school but i hadnt burned out yet). you get used to it. or it gets too frustrating and you become a workaholic.

Few things

1. It happens to everyone. 20 isn't even that old.

2. If you had your life goals in sight/sorted out by 20 years old, then you're a massive massive MASSIVE outlier. Everyone at this age is still figuring out their lives. Hell, people 30 years old still are. No rush, just consider things you might enjoy and work towards them.

I've had my fare share of conversations with people. All of them, down to the oldest ones I know, didn't have their life in order by 20. While some had portions, most did not. It's rare to find somebody who has everything together by that age.

I never understood this mindset that you had to have your shit sorted out before you turned 21.

Maybe if you lived in the antiquity period where turning 40 was considered a fucking miracle but seeing as how most of us live to 80 plus now I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

If it's any consolation I'm in the same boat. I'm at that awkward period in life where I've left college/uni, in fuckloads of debt with no job prospects besides retail and shitty fast food occupations.

I got it when I turned 21 and thought "shit, the next big one's 30, and I still haven't done a lot". But I think the it's the thought that counts here. Getting somewhere relatively stable and striving for more just means it can only get better as long as you keep thinking there's more to do.

When you grow up you realize how school really fucked up your view of society and how you're expected to continue up a ladder that doesn't exist. You need to learn to make your own goals and finder the ladder for that before climbing it.
