I'd assume it was research into the effects of sleep deprivation. Only I don't see how we could learn anything new about it by now considering the study results already available.

Seems pretty needless. Now if they were testing some method or treatment to shorten sleep cycles without the side effects that'd be one thing, but I'm not sure I see the point except for the 60's-flavor shits and giggles.

Meta is right. If the research actually proved to be valuable, or rather, can help human beings, then you can make an argument. But this "research" was utterly pointless and in no way should be seen as justified. Suffering is suffering, pain is pain. Whether or not it was for the better of the vast majority is when things blur. In this case, it was deeply in the wrong.

- Daiya Cheese (site appears to be down atm) is the best vegan cheese I've tried (most of them taste like ballsweat). You may have to go to a health food store to find them though, and they aren't cheap, so I don't buy them often.

This. I remember back (almost a year ago), when you and Verbatim convinced me to "take the plunge" (I had already stopped eating meat at that point, didn't realise the harm in cheese and eggs yet). It was really hard to do at first, because I used to chow down on pizza almost every day. After month 3 or 4, however, you start to get used to it. Pasta really helped, the vegan pizza I posted above, a few veggie burgers here or there...

It's really not as big a deal as people make it out to be.
