This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.
The NHS money isn't fucking helping now.

emigrate or degenerate. the choice is yours
You're shitting me right?

An independent Scotland can forget about the strength of the fucking pound. The three main political parties have explicitly ruled out a currency union. Borrowing the pound without an agreement – like Panama borrows the dollar and Montenegro borrows the euro – would mean Scotland would not have a central bank to set interest rates or protect financial institutions and pensions. Who knows what Salmond's plan B is for a secondary currency, but with less than two weeks to go until the referendum, being unaware of what type of currency we'd be using isn't exactly enticing me to vote Yes.

As part of the UK, Scotland currently benefits from public spending per person that is around 10% higher than the UK average.  This funds vital public services like health, schools and police in Scotland.  If it became independent, a separate Scotland would have a larger deficit than the UK and the Scottish Government would have to raise taxes and cut spending on essential services.

I tend to forget about the flag waving and patriotism for a couple minutes when I'm contemplating the future and social security of my country. I consider Independence to be a big black veiny cock waiting to shoot it's load into the bosom of Scotland's economy, and I'll be damned before fishface drives our country into the dirt.

>implying you need a central bank

Panama has the ninth-most reliable financial system in the world.

It's similar to some of the BRIC countries though. It may have a fast growing economy but that doesn't make it sunshine and rainbows for everyone. A quarter of the population still live under poverty.

I'm not saying otherwise.

I'm saying the argument that Scotland won't have a central bank is, as far as it matters, irrelevant.
