TLDR Russia is closing a lot of its for-profit schools. This is actually an admirable effort. These for-profit schools are exploitative and prey on people with poor judgment; they dont offer degrees that are worth anything and the training they provide is awful. The USA should follow suit. Near my college, there's an old Piggly Wiggly that's been converted into a University of Phoenix- every time I drive by, I feel compelled to shake my fist and yell "you aren't a college, you're a Piggly Wiggly!" We should close all of these schools like DeVry and University of Phoenix. They do nothing to help.

For-profit schools are utter garbage and shouldn't even be considered schools.

The fact that these for-profit institutions even exist says a lot though.

It says that there are sleazy people willing to make a buck through dishonest means. At least to me.

I have zero problems with the concept of a for-profit university. They provide valuable services to people that are willing to pay, and there's nothing wrong with that. Just because your tuition isn't cut with taxpayer dollars doesn't make a degree worth any less.

A lot of for-profit colleges are merely scam schools. They prey on people who are low-income by inflating their prices pushing the idea of student loans on them because that's the only way they'd be able to afford the school. Often times, these "schools" are not accredited and employers will not recognize them as legitimate schools, and therefore a worthless diploma and a mountain of debt.

Like I said, I have zero problems with the concept of for-profit universities. I don't condone predatory institutions, though. A lot of the stigma is misplaced, though. DeVry and UoP are accredited, and are a good choice for a lot of people.
