No, I don't. No one accepts the viewpoint when someone says "The Holocaust was a good thing!" because they are objectively and inherently wrong.

Just because you have an opinion, does not mean we have to agree or accept it - especially when it gets to the point of physical, mental, or emotional harm to those around you when you act on your opinion. The opinion of these "parents" (I use that term in the LOOSEST of ways), are not deserving of any respect, consideration, or acceptance. No opinion that leads to you beating and disowning your child, or anyone for that matter, is deserving of that.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.
I have to disagree with the people claiming that morality can somehow be inherent or objective. I've no doubt that we have innate preferences, caused by emotions such as empathy, compassion and the like, but it doesn't constitute an absolute and codified morality.

The only moral system that can survive are ones who adhere to the proposition that "might makes right" and no system or prevalent morality in existence has ever or ever will break this mold.

Ultimately, expressions of "right" or "wrong" are emotional and we engage in post hoc reasoning to explain it. I read a book not too long ago which explained it like this: our immediate moral intuition is like an elephant taking a step to the right, and our reasoning is like the rider sat atop making sure that step to the right goes smoothly.

Does that mean we should drop our moral code? No, in essence, its essential to the stability of society. If you are, however, going to claim that morality is independent of our intuitions, expectations, reasoning and opinions, I can't see that as being correct.

you have to accept it, you can disagree all you want, but you have to at least accept that it's a viewpoint and that any argument against the morality of it is also opinion, otherwise you'll never know where they went wrong, what caused them to reach that end point, and you'll become just as biased and prejudiced as they are, only difference being you're fighying on the other side, creating a conflict.

all opinions deserve in the very least to be acknowledged by anyone and everyone, and if we don't learn the causes and how they end up there, we're never going to develop further away from avoiding that conflict, just condemning any opinions or thoughts that are against your own is the exact mentality that the holy church used during the crusades, and it's what causes wars.

now this, I disagree with, have your parents ever been robbed the $2000 that .paid off the rent? how about that money being stolen by your sister? has she then used that $2000 to generate over a million dollars by flipping houses and then never even taken a second glance at your mother and left your family behind in the dust? no? well that's what my sister did, and that is exactly what got me started into the working world, it's also exactly why she is no longer my sister, she left her family behind to burn, and completely abandoned us in the worst situation possible, then returned 10 years later and tried to act like nothing had happened.

actions of others create opinions on them, which is what we're discussing. my parents completely lost respect in my sister at that point, and in their opinions, and in their eyes, she wasn't family. that opinion led to disowning her.
