What a fucking waste of shit this guy is.

It pisses me off so much that we can't just have a candidate who knows what the fuck is going on in any capacity.

He's an internal affairs guy, most libertarians are. Foreign policy isn't what he's concerned with. But please, let's make this a national scandal while Trump gets away unscathed with saying much worse.

sums it up

This shouldn't be a case of "Well, he said some stupid shit, but this guy over here said worse!"

No. They both said stupid shit, and should be equally reprimanded for such. And that goes for Stein and Clinton as well.

I had no idea what the city was called,

You aren't running for elected office, especially the office of the Presidency - you know, the Commander and Chief of our military. So while you may choose to be ignorant, that doesn't mean Johnson can be as well.

I just knew a city was at the center of it right now.

There's actually a handful of cities "at the center of it", including Damascus, Homs, Aleppo, and Al-Raqqa.

MSNBC is a cancerous piece of shit though for being so rude about his lack of knowledge. "UGH ARE YOU SERIOUS?"

They're rude for doing their job as a media outlet, and calling out a candidate for President on not knowing a pretty crucial piece of information related to a conflict that we're a part of in some form?

Just cause your candidate of choice is in the wrong doesn't mean that it's everyone else's fault.

It's the difference between saying the numbers of the Holocaust are exaggerated versus saying the Holocaust never happened. As far as stupid shit goes, not knowing what Aleppo is when foreign policy has never been a platform in your campaign isn't even that bad.

It's all about tone. We all know damn well if Hillary asked that they would've been more lenient in their reaction. It would've been a less aggressive "WWHHAATT?!?!?!?!"

If foreign policy isn't a platform in your campaign, for a job as the Commander in Chief of our military, you might want to look elsewhere in government.

Candidates for the Presidency should be focusing more on the military, and not on basic policy.

Some presidents have focused more on foreign policy, some have focused more on internal issues. There are jobs like Secretary of State and those inside the Department of Defense that focus solely on external problems. The president's main vision shouldn't be outside his country, it should be inside it.

Probably not, because if a former Secretary of State didn't know a key city in relation to a war, you damn well know every media outlet would be breaking that story as quick as possible.

Clinton, for as much praise that people think she gets, actually has dealt with a fair amount of negative media since she announced.

Some presidents have focused more on foreign policy, some have focused more on internal issues.

And that's fine and dandy - but the President will never dictate or create policy, so the fact that we deal with these elections where analysts and campaigns spend millions defining the difference in policy beliefs against your opponent is ridiculous.

But, that's beyond the scope of this thread. Johnson is still an idiot, as is Trump, as is Stein, as is Clinton.

You mean she wasn't able to turn haters into elevators?

Clinton, for as much praise that people think she gets, actually has dealt with a fair amount of negative media since she announced.

I'm gonna kick your ass to Shanghai if you don't shut up.

Look, I'm not vehemently out to get Hillary, but even you have to admit that slogan there was kind of funny.

The guy, quite calmly, said this: "You're kidding."

If that's your idea of a suitable calm reaction, sure.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.
Statement from Gary Johnson:

This morning, I began my day by setting aside any doubt that I’m human. Yes, I understand the dynamics of the Syrian conflict -- I talk about them every day. But hit with “What about Aleppo?”, I immediately was thinking about an acronym, not the Syrian conflict. I blanked. It happens, and it will happen again during the course of this campaign.

Can I name every city in Syria? No. Should I have identified Aleppo? Yes. Do I understand its significance? Yes.

As Governor, there were many things I didn’t know off the top of my head. But I succeeded by surrounding myself with the right people, getting to the bottom of important issues, and making principled decisions. It worked. That is what a President must do.

That would begin, clearly, with daily security briefings that, to me, will be fundamental to the job of being President.

Article from the interviewer

Quote
Don’t blame Gary Johnson for his ignorance or his inability to speak to what is happening in a piece of the world that is a cauldron of terror, combat, and refugees. He’s not alone. Neither of the two major candidates—Trump and Clinton—have been asked the same simple question recently: What would you do about Aleppo?

Maybe it’s because one is a bit paranoid about the press and the other simply does not care. Hillary Clinton appears tortured, robotic, unable to speak in a straight line and in a permanent defensive crouch when she does find the time to answer a few questions. Trump just lies or makes it up while we shrug our shoulders and treat him like he is still the host of The Apprentice rather than a candidate for President of the United States. We laugh at him, apparently unaware the joke is on us.

Not extremely surprising considering some of his foreign policy opinions I've heard.

I've been strongly considering voting for him but sometimes I think I might be better off just staying home.

Considering your average voter doesn't know what Aleppo is either, I don't see why they would be concerned.
Because they're not the ones who necessarily need to know about Aleppo. They're not the ones trying to assume the most powerful and influential office in the world. "Ignorant" is one of the last things you want your president to be.

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.
I pretty much agree with what door said but given how Aleppo right now is the centre of Russia/US rivalry and the most important city in the Syrian civil war his advisors or whatever would tell him.

You're obviously not familiar with the libertarian platform.

It's pretty much the 'not our problem' platform.

And there's nothing wrong with that
