"why adopt gun control rules when criminals just buy their guns illegally from the black market"
just to clarify, this is not the argument i'm making, and i made the same point towards deci in the other thread

i figured my stance on gun control has been made clear enough in the past that i wouldn't need to clarify, but i support gun control to the extent that even most leftists might consider draconian

all i'm saying here is that it's still a two-way street; the black market will always exist, yes, but i'm coming at it from the perspective of someone who's more in line with your thinking, not deci's thinking

deci seems to be hung-up on the notion that any degree of gun control is pointless because it's not 100% effective, when, like you said, perfect efficacy is not what we're looking for

it's minimization

So. First let me address the elephant in the room for 2 media outlets that I find disturbing for stretching the truth and overall being currupt in general. Fuck CNN and fuck The Guardian. I can't trust either of them
The gun debate aside, can you explain this? The Guardian is a pretty reputable newspaper. It's won several awards for its reporting and operates under a special trust that guarantees that its profits are reinvested into the actual journalism rather than diverted to corporate shareholders. The few mistakes I know they've made didn't have much to do with corruption or lies and were followed by retractions and apologies. They're considered left-leaning centrist and pretty neutral / objective. I've asked you this before and despite you calling newspapers like this corrupt, untrustworthy and all sorts of things, I've never seen you actually provide a better alternative or prove your point.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
tbh fam I'v been countering everyone who uses the "you can buy a rifle but not a beer" argument irl  by agreeing that it's absurd and saying that we need to lower our drinking age to 18 like the rest of the developed world. It either ends the conversation or derails it totally away from guns.
wait, do people really use that argument in contexts other than "we ought to lower the drinking age"
I've been hearing it lately since this Florida shooting by people who want to raise the purchase age of long guns.
They phrase it like, if you can't be trusted with alcohol until you're 21 why can you buy this weapon of war?

Yeah, I realized that when I read the "obviously" so I turned it into a general post aimed at anyone who does think that.

Just some bloke who wanted to be anyone but himself.
People are wanting laws to rid of firearms without realizing that it'd be impossible to rid of the current ones people own. We already have 5-6 firearms without serial numbers.

Hey.
I came here from b.net after a few Floods invited me. None of them post on either b.net nor here anymore, which is sad. I was still active on b.net until for some bizarre reason, b.net admins locked out people who have not played Destiny. Even if you wanted to post on the offtopic section. After that, I fully moved here and have not returned to b.net since.
Please come play Halo with me.

So there isn't a record of people who own guns and how many they own?
Why not keep such a list?

When they cancel 2nd amendment, just start taking ppl off that list and the guns they bring. If someone doesn't show up - you get a warrant for house search etc.

That is what Lenin did and made communist revolution possible.

Gun laws are very different depending on the state. In Florida, I was able to legally own a handgun and have it in my car while I was still in High School. You're required to be 21 for the purchase, but can own one at 18. I also became certified for a C&C at the same age, but I had to wait until I was 21 to actually get the license. For about 3 years, I had a Ruger P-95 concealed in my car legally before I was able to actually purchase a similar firearm.

There's going to be loopholes, and the Pre-1968 serial number firearms are untraceable. You can exchange firearms with others without documentation, but the number can be traced back to the buyer if the weapon is acquired by authorities.

I don't know why people bitch over AR15s when automatics aren't too difficult to acquire.

Where I live, I can fire most Non-explosives in my friend's back yard. Someone in my family has an M1A1 Thompson, and I'll be firing that off pretty soon.

Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986 included a provision that outright prohibits any federal government agency from forming a readily searchable gun registry for typical firearms (ie: not machineguns or short barreled rifles/shotguns). Every republican would lose his job if they allowed this to get overturned.

Except it is. Because what you just suggested the US government should do is unconstitutional. As in illegal. 4th amendment etc.

I mean, if they ever decide to revert to no guns for citizens - they will have a hard time doing so.

Do I have to pay a $200 tax stamp to suppress the argument?

Probably setup by the government, honestly. Coward cop hid and the F.B.I. was warned.
The deep state has a lot of power and influence on US politics. It's been hinted that the majority of mass shootings are set up.

Why would they set them up?

For an excuse to spread fear in people, which is an excuse to trample our rights. Also note - Most mass shooters are on drugs forced on a lot of people from the government medical company. The same government that criminally claims cannabis is illegal while simultaneously possessing patents on medical cannabis.
If they already have a lot of power and influence why do they need to set up an extremely complex operation the likes of which has never been seen where hundreds of American civilians (particularly children) are murdered? How is there hasn't been a single whistleblower in all these years?

Hahaha this is a UFO tier conspiracy theory. No group could keep this much control over an operation like this.

The right to self-defense. Plenty of others by the government as well, but I will stay relevant.
