For a couple days, no, but extended periods are unquestionably torture.

I don't find solitary confinement to be torture. Solitary confinement due to space required per inmate is less economical than mass cells as seen in most of the prison system. Therefore solitary confinement is generally used on those inmates for who either are a danger to others or are in danger themselves.

You don't consider being put into solitary for 20 years torture?

My mindset is one that 20 years without having to talk to anyone is peaceful, and good. I'm more or less asocial, so I have a different perspective. Plus, I don't really read/ know much about this subject so I don't feel qualified to give much more than waht I already said.

It is torture. Being locked in a dark room for the majority of the day for 20 years in complete solitude? That's torture. People start to get damaged mentally in a few days. Years of that causes insanity.

Did you even watch the video in my OP? There are people that have been in solitary for up to 28 years.
I don't watch videos on this site. It's not like I'm constantly carrying around a pair of headphones. If you post a thread called "Do you agree solitary confinement is torture?" with the body just a Youtube video and asking me what my thoughts are, I'm going to assume you're using the term as it's used in 90% of the world.

Then refrain from posting until you watch the video or ask for more information. I posted a video, it's not my duty to give you the transcript because you "don't watch videos on this site".

Either way, you should at least know people have been put into solitary for years before you even discuss it. If you're not knowledgable about something, don't discuss it until you inform yourself.
