There was never any hope of reducing emissions enough to actually have an effect. Sequestration and geoengineering have always been the only options.

Humans aren't going to colonize another planet in a few hundred years, because we're out of time. We have a century at the very best. Only something akin to a miracle can save the human race now.

I'll read up on it more. But I don't think most of the Earth will be flooded. Even 100 years from now. No telling how much worse the weather will get though. And that will be bad where I live.

And ignorance is the final front. True, most if not all of those rises in temperature were due to an increase in CO2, but the key point is these were entirely natural, linked to increased volcanism (famously the Siberian Traps cautiously linked to the P/T Extinction Event, and the Deccan Traps occurring within the same timeframe as the extinction of the Dinosaurs in the K/T Extinction Event). That shit occurred over thousands, if not tens of thousands of years... rather than a comparatively short two centuries. If anything, the Earth is going to get tectonically calmer with  future periods of increased volcanism being pale in comparison to the past.

It should also be noted that in actuality, due to Milankovitch Cycles interfering with each other, we should be going into a cold phase right around now (give or take 10,000 years).

Well, we are nearing the end it seems. And we deserve it. We have exploited nature for centuries, ignoring the harm caused to the environment. Now the consequences must be faced.

With or without our help, the environment changes. Active volcanoes and raging fires clouded our atmoshpere millions of years ago and wiped out over 90% of all life. With or without our help, in 50,000 years the earth will go through another ice age. In millions of years, the continents will have shifted to form another supercontinent.

In all those changes, species will go extinct, like they suppossedly do every single day. Landmass, water ratios, temperature, will all change. That's something nobody can stop. While it's sad to think that our future generations may be in the dumps because of our respective actions, ultimately, this planet has seen worse events before. So has it's lifeforms.

TBH, with the scientific boom we're going through right now, chances are we'll just be able to genetically modify ourselves to have gills by the time shit starts getting really bad. If the US is the SPQR, then this will be the century it goes full Roman Empire, which in modern terms I would assume equivocates to National Socialism. This is a very scary thought.
