We always say to fight fire, you must use fire. This is wrong. Fighting fire with fire will leave scars and a new flame will rise. We must instead use water. It is the opposite of fire, it extinguishes the fire, it cools, it refreshes, it heals. We are made up of 70% water, we are not made up of 70% fire. Please practice what we truly are

"Value" isn't a real thing either. Gold is just a metal, gems are just rocks, there's no real way some arbitrary amount of them are equivalent to some amount of food or other completely different material.

It's all just convenience born out of the fact that bartering is a pain in the ass.

Paper money has as much value as you give it.
Gold has as much value as you give it.

I'd rather carry around a few paper bills and a credit card than four bars of gold bullion.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.
Don't be an idiot.

Money is as valuable as the goods and services you exchange it for. Nothing is "intrinsically" valuable.

The why can't I write a million dollars on a piece of paper and say it's a million dollars? Who has the right, or should I say, why do certain people have the right to name and insist on a set value on money? Why is their paper, which isn't even paper anymore by the way, more legitimate than me finely writing out a million dollars on a piece of paper?

Because you scribbling on a notepad doesn't constitute legal tender. . .

Their money has value because people the world over give it value.  If everyone suddenly assigned value to Monopoly money we'd use that, too.

"Ornate chandeliers suspended from a vaulted ceiling lit the spacious chamber; Jack tilted his gaze overhead and noticed how far away they were.  His thoughts wove around those bright lights, like a dance of ether masses spiraling in precious unison. Why must we try to clutch desperately for the mere threads of this world when we can clasp onto a tapestry of untold magnificence beyond this plane of existence?"
That's why it's called fiat money son; there's no longer a foundation of value that U.S currency is built upon. It's literally being created from absolutely nothing by the Federal Reserve >.>

we accept contemporary currency as a unit of value, including other characteristics of course

It only has value now because not everyone can make a lot of money. If everyone in the world were to be rich, money would lose it's value,.
