Quote from: Bacon's Shelf on January 15, 2015, 04:47:14 AMDepends. If it's one of those negative decibel places, then yes. IF it's just a regular cell, then no.You don't consider being put into solitary for 20 years torture?

Making someone stay alone with their thoughts for a while is a good way for them to actually start mentally working through the crimes they've committed. It is torture. Being locked in a dark room for the majority of the day for 20 years in complete solitude? That's torture. People start to get damaged mentally in a few days. Years of that causes insanity.

No modern or civilized prison imposes solitary confinement that long. I thought we were talking about the practice as it's usually used.Did you even watch the video in my OP? There are people that have been in solitary for up to 28 years.

If you post a thread called "Do you agree solitary confinement is torture?" with the body just a Youtube video and asking me what my thoughts are, I'm going to assume you're using the term as it's used in 90% of the world. Then refrain from posting until you watch the video or ask for more information. I posted a video, it's not my duty to give you the transcript because you "don't watch videos on this site". Either way, you should at least know people have been put into solitary for years before you even discuss it. If you're not knowledgable about something, don't discuss it until you inform yourself.
