There was no thread on it so why not

I've been tuning in and out, and I mentioned this before. I just find it so trippy how quickly both countries flipped on America being great/being shit, along with the military support. This whole "America is the greatest country and we love our military" has been a Republican thing for as long as I remember.

Now it's "our country is shit and it needs fixing, and our Military is pretty under-prepared". Nothing wrong with that way of thinking obviously. I just find it so crazy how both parties flipped that paradigm so quickly.

Just seeing a mother who's son died in Afghanistan, so it really just made me want to make the thread since it's so in your face. I honestly find the whole thing with both the parties fascinating.

It could just be the message whenever a new election is run after every 8 term cycle. Though I know with Clinton (Bill) it was about the economy, hence the catchphrase "It's the economy, stupid!".

Idk how Dubya went about it. I read he was more about infrastructure and economics before obviously 9/11 happened.

I mean, I'm not particularly surprised because this happens every 4-8 years (Assuming a sitting president is elected for a second term). The party currently in power shines a light on what they feel are the strengths of America. The opposing side tries to say how shitty we've become.

In 2008, it was the reverse. McCain was trying to play up our strengths, Obama was the embodiment of "Change and Hope"

I don't know what the Obama's are drinking, but damn they are some of the best speakers I've ever heard. Michelle's was great a few days ago, and I honestly got even a little emotional over Obama's tonight. First time that's happened to me.

I feel like my mother who always cries over things like this :/. Maybe I'm just getting old.

I don't even agree with the man on everything (personally I think his foreign policy is a joke, the Iran deal is bad, etc etc), but the man is one of the best speakers I've ever heard. He can move an entire room and make the weep like babies.

That was one hell of a speech. Even better than his 2004 one I think.

Nowadays? All for it, nothing good will get done but it will keep both Hillary from getting any sort of power over foreign affairs and Trump from having nuclear codes.

So after the DNC beat the RNC in viewings (ratings) every night so far, the Donald is asking people to not watch Hillary's acceptance speech after boasting he got the biggest ratings in history.

Seems a little petty and childish.
