We always say to fight fire, you must use fire. This is wrong. Fighting fire with fire will leave scars and a new flame will rise. We must instead use water. It is the opposite of fire, it extinguishes the fire, it cools, it refreshes, it heals. We are made up of 70% water, we are not made up of 70% fire. Please practice what we truly are

Something tells me that the more laws that States put in the books that try to overrule it, is going to trigger a Civil War over Rights in general.

I like this law, but I have when some states have good common sense laws and other states have laws that shouldn't even exist. Why can't all 50 States be the same in most freedom possible?

I think Alabama tried the same with gay marriage.

It's okay, those states will be reigned in by the federal government, it just takes a bit.

Though this shows why state and federal rules being separate is retarded. Only times I can think of it being useful is tightening gun laws on some places and making weed legal

though the federal government made it illegal in DC after the people voted it legal...

...

I think it's safe to say the American government is a shit.

I think things that would effect the whole country as a whole need to be done Federally. I'm tired that my CCW permit isn't good in the next state over, or that Colorado, Cannabis is legal, yet mostly everywhere else its medical or still illegal.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.
This is probably one of those instances where I'd support the federal government over a state government.

Well of course, you live in Europe. This bill is great. The federal government can fuck off when it comes to trying to limit the rights of American citizens, especially when it comes to being able to defend themselves, or collecting guns for sport or just as a hobby.
While I understand where you're coming from, I think some American's are a little too gun happy who aren't qualified to own or use one. I hear you were in the Airforce, so you should have every right.

There's a lot of crazy people who are in the service too. What makes someone qualified to have guns is that they are not legally insane and known the common sense rules about handling them. Then you must also have a basic level of respect to other people's right to life. If they are not being a cunt Lord and not hurting anyone else or you, you don't even have the moral right to shoot them.

There are certainly people who should not have one, and from what I understand, the state would still have laws in place regarding background checks and who can and cannot own a gun. From my understanding it prevents unconstitutional gun laws from being enforced, which is a good thing.

Regarding me being in the Air Force, even if I were not, I still think I have every right to own a firearm. I have been around them my whole life because of my family, and know how to use them safely, and maintain them. I own eight firearms and have thousands of rounds of ammo in my closet and go shooting occasionally with my family, either to waste ammo and have fun, or to seriously practice aim and how to use each weapon effectively. Between everyone in my family we probably have around sixty firearms.
Now see, you sound like someone who knows what they are doing, and that's good. I support background checks and all that because I think it is safer and common sense, but I can understand the hate for getting them taken away.

Still, I think everything with moderation is decent, and I actually got kind of scared when my college mentioned what to do if a school shooting happened. I know chances are it WONT, but the fact I have to actually worry about that is kind of scary.

I know that feeling very well. I work at an Elementary school and hate the fact I have no means to protect myself or others.

What if they made a law that overules the Supremacy Clause and enforces it with State government Officers/Military personnel?

Hey.. if the government can commit treasonous acts, then why can't we? How's that saying go, "Lead by example" ? Our leaders are just showing us its okay to do this so we can do it too! : D

States can nullify FEDERAL shit?

10th Amendment.

Basically, as long as it doesn't involve interstate commerce, the States can legally do what they want. Which is how the handful of states that have nullified this shit have gotten away with it. What it boils down to is, as long as it stays in state, it's golden.

You've never lived in a Pro-gun environment? Hard to have an opinion on the matter when you are in an environment that heavily supports one side.

Yet despite that, I am exceptionally pro-gun in comparison to most British people.

I'm talking about States rights. The American Civil War was about States rights, but the main focus was slavery. So another Civil War could be brooding and this time, it'd be about State rights and the main focus would be about Guns. See what I mean?

So long as they already have their own laws in place covering the whole roundabout, background checks, insanity etc. I have no problem with it.
