Armed police officers

I came across the article ( http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2015/02/18/5-countries-where-police-officers-do-not-carry-firearms-and-it-works-well/ ) and found it rather intresting.

I know a lot of people who browse this section are very right winged, but I thought it would make for an interesting topic.

Should they be allowed to carry guns and tasers? How armed do you think the police should be?

Not carrying seems to work fairly well for them. I say continue what they're doing.

In the U.S., not carrying a gun as a cop is a terrible idea considering there are way too many crazy people and criminals with guns.

What happened to the two NYC cops that were murdered in the name of Michael Brown a couple months ago shows that cops should be armed. There would be nothing stopping other people from doing that again knowing that they won't meet any resistance.
