You edited that in, shithead.

It's pretty goddamn easy to tell between an accident and an actual purposeful act.

No shit I did, because it was a good point. It was your failure to pick up on it.

And no, no it isn't. The world is not so black and white. There's a fuck ton of gray. Do you even go outside?

I was in the process of responding before you edited it in.

Precisely how many times were you dropped on the head as a baby?

2. Don't use social media

-You're frequenting a forum (social media) that you can't remove your time-stamped posts other than by editing them to be blank, and lacks https security encryption.

So yeah you can use a vpn and all that, but it's easier for big brother to monitor your online activity here, and I'm pretty sure they can calculate based off of your online activities at least pin point your timezone.

You can't always elude data mining, or so it seems.

edit: that's why the ads become creepy.

Your IP address is available to the staff, and you have your state of living on display. As well as your age.

Unless you're lying/constantly using McDonald's Wi-Fi.

If he's using a VPN that's what IP address would be on file, because the VPN conceals his actual IP address.

The source code really has nothing to do with it. 10 is just a variation of the NT kernel, and I have no doubt it's capable of stealing all of that. But there's no evidence it's being done.
Source code is relevant, though you're right, there's no evidence. But it's unlikely that MS is so incompetent that they'd just leave a backdoor open 24/7. There's no way of knowing either way, at least with what little public information there is available right now.

You're telling me my operating system can detect software on the hard disk it's running off of?
And send that information back to mother base unencrypted, which presents numerous security problems in and of itself.

Quote
No shit, man. And it absolutely should disable pirated software, that poses a security risk to the user and is also illegal.
Okay, mom. (It's a bit concerning that you think MS should institute a nanny state. Assuming it really is a capability of Windows 10, it'd be another 'feature' tantamount to a backdoor that opens the door to abuse, not necessarily by Microsoft or the US government, but by ill-intentioned third parties. All backdoors are inherently security flaws that compromise the integrity of that system.)

I just wanted to run this little survey because I feel like the biggest downfall in the battle of this malicious practice done by corporations like Microsoft and Google is that people are totally okay with them doing it. Also for discussion value just general thoughts on data mining and privacy invasion practices done by software corporations.

Hey Slash. We are all already fucked. There is a file with your name on it at the NSA

Better start faking your own death and discontinue your internet access entirely and live in the woods for the rest of your life if you don't want to be apart of it.

Everyone's privacy is already fucked.

What about it is retarded, exactly? Everything I've said is infallible while, once again, you pull opinions out of your ass and tote them as solid facts. "HURRR ITS SO EASY TO TELL BAD MISTAKES FROM HONEST MISTAKES LOL", "HURRR PRIVACY ISN'T IMPORTANT FUCKING LOL THERE'S NO BAD THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT IF PEOPLE KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU DERP ROFL"

The fact that you need "substantial proof" that the world is 50 shades of grey rather than starkly black and white (which is how immature, ignorant people view it) is asinine. Try living in the real world for a few seconds and you'll see exactly how gray it is.

And lol, I'm taken very seriously. Nice try on belittling me, though

See you Cowgirl,
Someday, somewhere
I don't really care.

Apathy is a horrible trait.

The delusion that there is any sort of "right to privacy" is as well.

Oh, so because you don't believe in it means it should be irrelevant for blah blah blah

You demand interconnected services, fast and catered shopping and search results, and a highly personalized and dynamic experience, while expecting to retain control over that information. It's a fantasy. In order to provide these services, companies need databases, and those databases are populated with basic identity information and tons of metadata about users.
I don't need any of those things which is why I don't use any of those things.
You don't use free gmail, social media, forums, YouTube, shopping services, or search engines? Then what's all the bitching about?
That other people give into it so easily and are only perpetuating the problem.

as for services

1. ProtonMail

2. Don't use social media

3. I use fake info for YouTube and everything actually

4. I use DuckDuckGo which does not track

5. I run a VPN at all times on Linux
It's like you're extremely paranoid 24/7

I do. I literally said that like twice in this thread.

Then what the fuck are you complaining about? If people don't want to do what you're doing when it comes to this shit, that's their choices, and for the record, Sep7 even has invisible tracking.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
I'm happy with what I get compared to what I give them (i.e. Amazon knowing my address  and buying history so they can deliver my shit). That said, the EU has a bit more emphasis on privacy rights so I may have less to worry about (GCHQ be damned).

There's never going to be a point where I'm going to be retroactively charged for a  retarded crime created in the future (e.g. "It's illegal to own CD's", or something), so I have little to worry about. Should I ever decide to do something that is currently illegal and currently enforced, I'll start going anon like any other rational person would.

If it were the case that products were overstepping on what I give them without warning or my consent, then I'd make a fuss about it (once I figured out/they were found out), but they don't... so I don't worry.

Government spying and the like are a whole other matter.
