It's the other way around amigo. Most of the US debt is owed to its own citizens anyway. China only owns like 8% of it.

Hey OP, do you know how those Jin-class subs stack up to Japan's fleet? Because the Jin class is more than twice the tonnage of the Soryu. In fact, none of the attack subs that Japan has outclass China's. So maybe China won't be going toe to toe with the US any time soon, but territorial aggression? What if they ally with sympathetic states? Maybe Russia or Iran? North Korea?

We have stations in Japan whose sole job is to be a quick reaction force against Chinese aggression. That wouldn't be the case if their military build-up was not a concern.

The Chinese wouldn't fuck with America; you don't kill a guy who owes you money and who's also swinging a bigger bat than you.

But regionally? They'd get into a punch-up with the Japs if they could. That said, the Chinese economy is faltering at the moment.

Well of course China could fuck up Japan but that's why we protect them with the largest, most advanced navy.

As for China becoming allies with other nations, I wouldn't see that as a concern. Only North Korea would be an issue because they're psychotic enough to use Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Much to Russia's disappointment since Russia used to be Communist as well, they were never close allies for whatever reason. China is mainly investing in North Africa for whatever reason. Perhaps they see bit trade there. Good for them.

As for North Korea? China is in an odd situation with that. Their relations with South Korea are actually pretty well, so the fact that China ALSO "puts up" with North Korea puts them at an odd spot there. Much like the US is both great friends with Japan and South Korea but they bicker all the time. In the end, both always say "both sides need to calm down" to stay neutral, almost like a big brother of the situation.

Anyway, China would never really ally with North Korea. At best they tolerate them because they don't want a democratic government supported heavily by America right by their doorstep.
