There's apps for joints like Pita Pit and Taco Bell that let you "skip the line" and order in advance.

Don't see how this is any different. Or why it matters towards the "Raise the Minimum Wage" argument.

Stuff like this is going to happening regardless due to technology. It's a lot more efficient having the customer ordering or checking out than by having a human doing it for them.

Most cinemas around me have had the DIY ticket consoles for years now. There's still plenty of people manning the ticket booths.

It's the same with fast-food places.

Freeing up labour and making the order-taking system more efficiently simply increases demand for chefs, as they need to meet the higher churn of orders.

Automation pretty much wholly occurs to improve the consumers' experience, not to reduce the labour bill.

A number of questions can be raised upon this possible horizon of events.

Will secret menu options be on the menu and accessible?

If so, how will they be accessible? Do you have to punch in a secret code, or find a secret tab?

Will secret menu options become regular menu options, destroying the secret option underground?

How can secret menus be managed on an automated system in the first place?

How do you find out about a secret menu option if there is no cashier/Mcflipper loser taking your order to tell you whether or not they have that option?

This is a very dire issue.
