Peeple app launched, and it's disgusting.

The app has been made even worse after the controversial spotlight fell off.

One of the more bullshit aspects that was added is that they plan on eventually making a subscription service for you to monitor negative reviews. People posting obvious false shit onto your page? Just give us money and you can take care of it. This app is nothing more than a sad joke.

And don't forget that reviews can only be challenged in 24 hours if it's two stars or less. That means I can and make a review for my neighbor, give him three stars and write down underneath "Yeah, this guy's a pedophile, i'd give him four stars if he'd just stop bangin ten year olds." and there's fuck all anybody can do about it.

People can not be put on a scale like this, and the fact that the two in charge of this app only got driven more to create after the criticism they faced when it was unveiled shows a lack of understanding or empathy out of them. Nothing good will come out of this.

People would probably use it as a quicker and easier version of that one website that was advertised a few years back (can't remember its name) where it did a background check of a person you want to know about. That site only did stuff like criminal records and took a while though. This would be more instant and as such, more open for people to use in a serious manner unfortunately.

Regardless of the fact that the masses may condemn it, the fact remains that there are at least two people in this world that views human beings as something that can be put on a quality scale and judged as easily as a movie or a fast food joint. It's objectifying and sick.

How would someone know she was crazy or drunk? This app was specifically designed to rate you as an individual from not only friends and family, but coworkers and employers as well. Not only would it make sense for another potential employer to use to to examine you, but to be hesitant when Jim from accounting says you're a lazy do nothing slacker simply because you're leaving the company for a better job and is trying to sabotage you, but you're would-be new management doesn't know that. They only see a post from someone who worked with you claiming you weren't adequate with your job.

The fact remains that there are people out there that are attempting to make a quick buck trying to rate you on some completely bullshit scale, and there are other people willing to go along with it. If you value yourself as a human being, you wouldn't let yourself be judged like this. Human beings are not something you can rate like your favorite cereal brand or hair care product.

Peeple’s own website says you can still write “recommendations” (i.e. reviews, but not necessarily positive ones) for anyone who’s not on the app, then choose to invite that person to join Peeple.

In other words, even if you’re not participating, someone could write your review. Sure, that review might not be public, but it exists in a digital format on the company’s servers.

How can I trust that this policy wont change? The makers of this app are social media butterflies that only responded this way because they thought the criticism was "Ironic" and keep in mind that their development after the backlash (let's not dodge the fact that this app has received HEAVY backlash) was incredibly dark. It's not unlikely they would be the kind of people who would revert this policy and have your negative reviews go public even without your consent, considering the only way to get it removed is through a paid service.
