Hey, I'm just letting you know what's up. It was a term coined by the second Bush administration and people have been running with it since.
I've always thought the term's been around since the 1900's.

Nope, iirc it was introduced by the US in the 2004 G8 summit as part of a new plan to tackle that region.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.
We are talking about the term "Middle East", right?
Quote
The term "Middle East" may have originated in the 1850s in the British India Office. However, it became more widely known when American naval strategist Alfred Thayer Mahan used the term in 1902 to "designate the area between Arabia and India".

The first official use of the term "Middle East" by the United States government was in the 1957 Eisenhower Doctrine, which pertained to the Suez Crisis. Secretary of State John Foster Dulles defined the Middle East as...
I thought it was "Greater Middle East" we were talking about.

Well religion isn't synonomous with peace.  Some religions promote violence to nonbelievers or what ever their god deems sinful.

It actually is. The Catholic Church has been a big supporter and funder of science since the fall of Rome. Islam has also given us many useful things that we use this very day. The world would be VERY different if people never transitioned from paganism and animism. We'd probably still be living in tribes or centuries behind

Because they are not actually religious. They simply use it as a means to send their send their perverted and atrocious ideas to the masses. The Quran actually states things that go against what these jihadists want people to think

Ha!

Quote
Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"

Quote
Quran (9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them."
Barbary Wars anyone?

Quote
Quran (4:95) - "Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-"  This passage criticizes "peaceful"
