Still so many idiots to get rid of.

I fully expect Trump to run as an independent if he doesn't win the GOP nomination

If that does happen, do you think he could poll above a Republican candidate?

Above? No.

He'd likely have the strongest support of any third party candidate in history though.

He didn't drop out, He's going to run as an independent.

He might officially drop out though, he hasn't been making a lot of noise. Which I don't like because he's the best candidate.

What? Is this confirmed, can you provide a source?

I'll have one of the mods fix the poll if he is.

As far as I can tell its still "considering" running as an independent.

so I guess you don't have to.

You should add Mitt Romney to the poll.

Since he's got a pretty strong chance to be the nominee.

He should probably stop considering, since he has absolutely no idea how to campaign.

A brokered convention - the event that a majority cannot align behind one single candidate once the convention arrives. There's been quite a few stories lately about GOP leaders preparing for the possibility, and Mitt Romney's closest supporters are preparing to push his name if such an event occurs.

Eww, why would we want four more years of Obama?

Cause the GOP want to remain a political party.

Switching my vote from Bush to Cruz.

Switching my vote from Bush to Cruz.

Why?
Dude's the only Republican with the actual capacity to give Trump a run for his money, and given that Presidential appointments are one of the most important things you can take into consideration it's a very big plus that he has the right ideas about monetary policy. And free trade.

Other than that, dude's a hack. Just a better hack than either Trump or Sanders.

Bonus: Cruz was also one of the senators introducing one of the best bills I think I've ever seen in terms of U.S. healthcare.

Why Cruz and not Rubio?
17pc > 12pc.

Plus Rubio hasn't made similarly pleasing pronouncements about monetary policy.

Rubio is the favourite among bookies to win the GOP nomination, and as we all know bookies are more accurate than pollsters. Clinton, however, is expected to get the Dem nomination, and the bookies are expecting a Dem victory 2016.

Thoughts?

Why ya asking me?

Anyways, to answer your question, Rubio does have the charisma, fundraising skills, and potential Hispanic support that would seem to clinch him the nomination in any other year. However with this primary, Trump's theatrics have overshadowed him, and Cruz's rise is definitely startling. As crazy as Cruz can be, he and Rubio have a large group of overlapping voters. I'm also not counting out Bush quite yet, as there is potential still for a comeback - particularly if he does well in the South. So, I'm kind of avoiding making a stance on the GOP nomination until at least after South Carolina.

Democratically, Clinton has the nomination secured unless all of the union members that are backing her just don't show up. Sanders support stems from the youth voters who similarly propelled Obama to the White House, but he hasn't made strides in other necessary communities, and that's gonna hurt - especially after we get past Iowa and New Hampshire, into states where he has no infrastructure set up.

For the general, the GOP needs to just suck it up and coalesce behind one candidate, even if it is Trump. However, the deep divides that have formed over the past decade in the party really does threaten their chances to win back the White House. I'll have to wait and see how it goes later in the primary, but I'd say a 60-40 chance that the Democrats win a third round.
