I kinda feel like legalization would totally burn out contemporary weed culture in a few years or so.
I kinda get that feeling, too, actually.

But I dunno. There's still "alcohol culture". We don't normally think of it like that, but it's there.

Okay, but that's still not a viable justification to not make it significantly more problematic for 'dumbfuck' teenagers to endeavour in their dumbfuck activities.
Again--I'm not arguing against it. Really, I'm just making fun of the fact that you're under the impression that age restrictions, as ineffective as they are, are some great solution. Enough to adulate them in your first post in this thread.
Where exactly did you get the impression I did?

Once again, looking too much into other people's posts as usual.
And that's why we have minimum age requirements.
Literally the only response toward the subject you had made in the thread up to that point. Maybe you should get off your high horse and not act like a prick.

Quote
The OP is about teenagers simply being teenagers, and his conflation with that of responsible adults. I'm simply illustrating why we have sensible laws in place to make it difficult for these 'dumbfuck' teenagers to engage in egregious behaviour.
Cool, and that wasn't what I replied to, nor did you share this viewpoint beyond "this is why we have minimum age requirements" until after I replied. If you don't intend to present a misinformed or narrow view, then don't provide one.

Something I wondered a little while back. Let's just say that you remove money from the equation of things and you found a functioning system that goes without monetary currency.

Would that not technically decimate black markets? Since they're in it for the high money game because illegal stuff sells for extraordinary prices, in theory, a system devoid of currency would cut down immensely on drug use wouldn't it?

Since the dealers would no longer have a means to make any technical profit, they'd likely die out, no? Only the dedicated ones would stay around. And I mean, let's face it, who the fuck makes drugs because it's fun?

Alcohol culture is a much older, deeply ingrained aspect to western society though, isn't it? That one's a little bit harder to curb.

I live with three roommates who all smoke pot.  One is in honors college and does a lot of school related stuff (along with being the local president of SSDP).  The other two are in a relationship and seem to always be high.  Kenneth, one of my best friends, lacks ambition and keeps putting off applying to college.  Mary, his girlfriend is only productive because she's manic.

I used to smoke regularly but I stopped because I didn't like what it did to me.  It killed my motivation, and if anything it hindered my creativity (hard to play guitar or bass well when you're 10 high guy).  I agree with the notion that pot culture is utterly toxic and is a plight on modern society.  It fosters an attitude of contentment in individuals who could otherwise be benefiting themselves or society, but instead choose to stay locked in their houses smoking three to five bowls a day, complaining about not having enough money to go out or have hobbies when they're spending hundreds of dollars a month on loud.

That's actually a fair point. I've seen the same thing with my classmates and other classes.

Vaping doesn't use tobacco though, fam. Only nicotine, and that's to ween a smoker off of it.

Gotta start somewhere I guess. I never really did buy into that whole weening off to quit thing though.

All the people who I've ever seen set themselves up to ween themselves off have failed. Little bit of psychology in there. They set their own barriers from the get go and fail because of it. It's just mental trickery with themselves. The only people who I've ever seen quit smoking did it cold and hard.

My bad. Ramblings. Anyway. Whatever gets those folks through I guess. We might eventually drag our way to some semblance of a functioning society.

Neat.

Except vaping actually works because a bigger cloud = more nicotine at once, even though the doses are smaller. Over time you can drop from 15mg to 10mg, 10mg to 5mg, and so on until you're free of it. It's not the same as weening off of cigarettes where you get the same amount of nicotine in every hit (unless you constantly switch brands).

Hmm. Well, people find a way I guess. No more expensive than smoking or any other form of drugs I'd wager. I don't think Nicotine is exactly the best for the human body though, no?

People who vape for recreation use nicotine-free juice, just like ex-smokers eventually do.

It costs around $150 for a "good" vape, and $10 for 15g bottles of juice. The former is an initial cost, the latter is a constant cost.

It's okay Verb. If we're to believe the over dramatic drama wagon advertising so venomously that pot's the worst shit since satan himself when compared to other drugs;

it's like shooting yourself in the head 30,000 times.

This is serious and we're trying to have a serious discussion. Could you please tone down the immaturity?

As for the OP, the way pot influences your life is dependent on the person. Pot in responsible moderation is in no way bad at all.

Smoking bud isn't bad at all. To be honest, I wasn't a "pothead" nor a "drunk" in high school. But I was a little bit of both. But I could easily say the kids smoking always did better in school than the kids buying 40oz's and getting drunk.

i started smoking at the end of my senior year, and over the summer, my friends and i would smoke multiple times a day every day. now in uni, i smoke probably 2-3 times per week (usually on the weekends and once in the middle of the week, if at all), and i'm having no trouble at all keeping up with my school work and participating in the few clubs that i joined.

from my experience so far, this is spot on.
