Why can we report our own posts?

Probably, it's not that much of a stretch, plus there was a time when we were under adsense when Cheat encouraged reporting old posts, even your own, to avoid adsense bitching.

If you feel guilty about breaking the rules then you can confess your own misdoings. (Or it's just lazy coding by whoever wrote the report system-- those pesky if statements, how do they work?) There are some benefits to it, and I don't think it's an issue, really.

Yeah...I think you can report all posts by default with SMF. It's just that it's usually a very small link, not a button that is in-line with the post buttons.

Reporting any post in the thread will still do that as long as it's the OP actually asking for a lock.

I use it as a more discreet way of letting mods know that I want one of my threads locked.

And to report LC's posts by proxy (because you can't normally report an admin post).
