Being sneaky? It's a built-in function of SMF and I never saw the point of turning it on for normal users.

I have known that it exists for a long time, because Isara uses it, but I see no point in it.

I think the point of it is so the mods know what people would be breaking the rules when there's no mods or monitors online. These people might be posting differently when they're online and not online.

Honestly it helps when I can just see a list of all users online. It gives me a larger field of view as to who is posting, and I can see if Mods are online too.

So I like things the way they are.

This is pretty much it. There's no part of the forum you can't view as a guest (maybe profiles, I haven't checked) so allowing normal members to go incognito is kinda worthless.

Admins can see who it is, anyway, and having the extra notification down in the stats that someone is browsing while invisible makes it more obvious than hiding as a guest. There's always like 15 guests online, so it's extremely simple to just log out and float on anonymously.

You can't view spoilers as a guest, but that's to do with the "Keep NSFW things in spoilers" I would presume.
