The only problem is that some users don't believe what they post is shitposting.

But you could edit posts to be labelled as a shitpost rather than locking them.

I'll admit, when my threads get locked when I think they don't deserve to be, I get pissed. If they were simply indicated as a shitpost, I wouldn't get as angsty and go to war with the moderators.

I think a better way to do it would be to give a warning to anyone who makes two lock worthy shitposts one after the other.
Which includes making one, say, now and another tomorrow.

But that would require close attention, so a timeframe would need to be added, say 20 hours.

I think a big issue with this place is that when there's something going on that needs to be sorted out, it usually just gets covered up instead of being solved.
And your idea just seems like a protective foil for shitposters, while they're already flying under the rules anyway.

How about deleting shitposters posts?
I've noticed one user cares about his rank quite a lot, yet when he makes a thread to shitpost and boost post count, his threads are just locked, but he gets away with boosting and keeps those posts.

That's not a bad idea.

One thing that comes to mind would simply be seeing how the community stands on the issue, via a basic poll or whatever, to gauge what people would prefer. Designated shitpost threads or a clampdown.

The numbers of regular users to shitposters seems like it would at least balance their votes out.
