Does this incident rule me out as a future monitor?
Cant help but notice the massive jerk of ''this and that for monitor/mod''
Quote from: e.e on August 30, 2015, 11:04:57 AMCant help but notice the massive jerk of ''this and that for monitor/mod''It isn't about jerking each other offit's about solving a fucking problemboth lemon and i have said that we'd selflessly take the responsibility of dealing with spoilersbut we both selfishly want Verbatim to do it because he'd be the best at it. This isn't a circle jerk. This is about solving a fucking problem, by any means.
Gee, calm down, im not attacking anyone,
Anyways, I'll add my thoughts on what should be unrealistic.3. The report function puts a unique SPOILER TAG around the post until a mod sees it, at which point they can either remove the comment or remove the spoiler tag around it. There's no way for this to be abused, and I expect it to be implemented. For example, as soon as Aria saw what Gats had posted, she could have reported it and that would have spoiler-tagged it for me and many others. Crisis averted. This needs to be implemented. Period.

Someone deciding to go through a thread and report every post isn't abuse of the feature because it can't be abused at all.
I really think we shouldnt have mods/monitors that many people favor

That isn't abuse.Everyone can still see those posts if they want, they're just uniquely spoiler tagged.Yeah it's a minor inconvenience but if they are wrongfully reported, it could result in a warning from mods and a retraction of the unique spoiler tag.

That's more than a minor inconvenience, honestly. That would make trudging through threads an absolute nightmare for everyone.
I might see a feature like that implemented if we have a minimum of 3-5 reports on a single post, but... by that point, it might be too late.
Well lets say that feature comes in and gets implemented across the board for any post that breaks or bends the rules, so many posts will be spoilered pointlessly, on top of idiots abusing it, that's it's really just a waste of staff time to deal with.
Or like Verb said, multiple reports to one post spoiler it.

Unrelated to this completely but there is a logo change inbound soon

It's totally reasonable.
