is it really necessary to have the "Moved" topic when threads are moved?

I agree. We don't need pointless locked threads everywhere signalling one got moved.

Yeah sure, we'll try to use it more sparingly from now on.

I honestly think a few of the staff members don't know that its a thing. Cheat, did at least, just give people powers without giving any kind of how to or lesson. Like I remember when I became mod he literally just said "have fun, please don't break anything" and I had to figure out everything myself. Not sure if that's still how things work but yeah.
Same thing for the mod trial actually. No guidance, no explanation on how things worked, no letting us know what certain things did. Actually at one point I was told to "stop asking so many questions and figure it out for yourself." (I won't name who it was) but when judgement came turns out it was the least active one who got the job out of the 3 of us. Oh and I was also told a reason I wasn't chosen was that "I didn't ask enough questions."

I'm used to proboards and IPB so it's a little different than what I'm used to, but I think I've got it now. I appreciate the advice though it helps things run a bit smoother when the community works together.

Also they did give us a quick tutorial when we joined. However, it was human error and not the system.

Wow that's actually pretty fucked up. I can understand why you're so salty about that.
And y'know there's that whole thing about Cheat demoting me and Rocket because he was getting rid of the monitor role only for it to come back a couple months later... >.>

One of the reasons that it is used is to ensure that people who may be following the conversation know where the thread was moved to, and don't just think the mods deleted it.

I try to only use it for a contentious or hot thread.

Those were my thoughts as well. I just don't see the reason for it for a newly birthed thread or one that has two or three replies or one that someone accidentally made in the wrong board.

The default option is to display the "Thread moved" lock thing. I'll see if Cheat can swap the options.

That's actually a good point! Using the locked thread to notify when hot topics are moved, and not using them for quick movement of a newer thread.  I'll keep all of this in mind. Thanks guyse! Constructive criticism is crucial for success.

I actually like knowing that my thread moved rather than going "What fuck happened to my thread? Did it get deleted?"

Only to feel like a dumb shit 15 minutes later when I get replies of said thread on another board.

Yeah, that would be pretty fucked up if it were true. Unfortunately for Tblocks, they were all encouraged to ask questions.

In regards to the OP, you should probably know from your time in staff that I've always been a stickler for removing the default check box for the moved thread thread and bitch at  people when I see that they haven't unchecked it while I go about deleting it.

We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty
and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
"Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.."
I suppose we all thought that one way or another.
If OPs are that concerned of if their thread got moved just have it send an automated message telling them. (I personally don't care and I think most people don't.)
That's not a bad idea.

Personally I don't care either way. It never bothered me.

Yeah I have to say if I was in you or Rocket's position I'd be pretty pissed and I'd also be way less pastoral than you're being about it.
