How do avatar sizes on this site work?

For my avatar you can see the image is larger than eggsalad's but for avatar size it is smaller. So then how do I get mine to be the same size as what she has?

It scales to a certain width, so the new length is proportional to that.

If you have two images that are the same height but image 1 is wider than image 2, image 2 will appear as a longer or "larger" avatar than image one after the scaling.

Just crop your avatar so it has roughly the same pixel ratio as eggsalad's avatar.

130px for width is my guess.
