The Flood / Did you miss me?

I guess not!

If anyone remembers me (Elegiac-senpai?) I've been gone for a while. Just sort of stopped coming on here. But I'm back now, so you can stop worrying. Whatever horrible things that happened while I was gone I shall rectify immediately. Rest assured, your savior is here.

The Flood / So my dog is dying.
« on: November 24, 2014, 09:33:48 PM »
My German Shepard-Rottweiler mix Frodo has an infection he sustained when he was attacked earlier this year by another dog.
Frodo is a rescue dog who came from a home in which he was beat up and attacked constantly by smaller dogs, like chihuahuas. He didn't stand up for himself, instead allowing himself to be attacked. He has scars all on his face and shoulders from this.
He came to us... God it must have been about seven years ago now. That was just before both my stepfather and my father passed away.
For years he has protected our family and our chickens from the local wildlife. He has done nothing but be an obedient and loyal companion to both myself and my mother.
Earlier this year, a neighbor was walking her dog down the road I live on. Her dog was not on a leash. We live in a very very rural area, so our house is a considerable distance from the road. Frodo always will bark at passing people, but stays on our property. We have stonewalls dividing our property from our neighbors and the road. Anyway, this time, the neighbors dog didn't take too kindly to Frodo guarding his home, and jumped the fence onto our property and came at Frodo. Frodo fought back, and I had to sprint and tackle the dogs apart. Her dogs face was bleeding, and Frodos shoulder was also. We sort of just went our separate ways.

My mom and I didn't think much of the incident until a few weeks ago Frodo stopped eating. We couldn't figure out why until we noticed that his shoulder was swollen. He was limping as well. We took him to the vets and they told us that it had become infected and full of puss.

I'll spare you the details of the operation, but suffice it to say that the fluid was drained. We thought it was over, but in a few days it had swollen back up. We had it drained again, and again today it was swollen, only this time by a dramatic amount. Frodo now does not walk on that leg because of the pain. We took him to the vets to have it be drained again, but the veterinarians that were there today were unfamiliar with the situation, and diagnosed it as a pulled muscle, which is is clearly not. Despite my and my mothers desperate attempts to tell them that we know what the problem is, we just need them to drain it again, they insisted we were mistaken, and sent him home with a prescription for pills that reduce inflammation. He unfortunately, is too smart and will not take pills. No matter what. We've tried everything to get him to take his antibiotics but he just won't. And now he's hardly eating anymore. My mom had to hand feed him fried eggs tonight because he wouldn't eat anything else. I don't mean hand feed with like, a fork or anything. She cut the eggs into tiny pieces and held them out in her hand one by one until he ate all of them.

We don't know how much longer he has. We don't know if he'll just pass in the night or if we'll have to put him down soon. We can't keep paying the vets to drain him, because we don't have that kind of money. He's an old dog. 12 years old. Maybe it's just getting to be time.

Tl;dr: My old dog is dying because of an infection from a wound sustained by a neighbors dog attacking him.

Gaming / Why does everyone on here hate Halo Reach?
« on: November 12, 2014, 09:43:37 AM »
I loved Reach. It was probably my favorite halo game. I honestly don't understand why the vast majority of people on here hate it so much. Almost everyone I talk to who isn't on this site loved reach, but everyone on here puts it as the worst halo game ever. Why?

The Flood / Do you know how much CoD loves you?
« on: October 29, 2014, 10:15:43 AM »

Tri to imagine it.
Then stop trying because it's too great for the mind to comprehend.

Discuss your C4 exploding.

Edit: this thread was a test to see the Flood's reaction. Judging by all of the responses, I am giving all of you a care package of 3 Snickers bars a day.
Cuz you ain't you, when you comment in a Call of Duty thread.

The Flood / Best Senior Quotes
« on: October 27, 2014, 11:03:05 AM »
The deadline for senior quote submission is coming up at my school and I don't know what I'm gonna do. Any ideas?
I was thinking maybe some Camnator quotes.
Maybe something like this:

The Flood / So, I'm looking for a new laptop.
« on: October 22, 2014, 09:59:49 AM »
I have a really nice, but oldish laptop (about 2007-2009 I think). It's a dell Inspiron. I love it to death, but it's too big to use as a portable laptop. As it is now its just a very low power, very mobile desktop. So I'm looking for a small laptop that I can use for college. For writing papers on the go and shit. Any suggestions?

And no, chrome books and macs are not options. Windows exclusively.

The Flood / So... Is this the real Camnator?
« on: October 06, 2014, 09:50:07 AM »

« on: September 30, 2014, 09:47:08 AM »
I forgot my glasses and my wallet at home, so driving home tonight after school is going to be difficult and dangerous, Mrs. Charlie cheated, Sandtrap is dying, all the stories were reading in my lit. class are sad as shit. And I think im starting to put back on the weight I spent a year losing.

[Edit]: And I'm coming down with a sore throat. Faaaaaantastic.

[Edit 2]: Also Destiny was a disappointment and Bungie betrayed us.

The Flood / I found someone else who Elegiac looks like

This is Alex Kapranos, the lead singer of Franz Ferdinand, and another Elegiac look-alike.

Gaming / So I tried the Smash Demo on 3ds.
« on: September 25, 2014, 07:01:58 PM »
The demo doesn't have a whole lot, you can only play as Mario, Link, Pikachu, and Megaman, and there is only one gametype and one map available, but I really enjoy it. Its going to be great playing it in school with a couple other friends. And the fact that its hand held now is just, spectacular. I can't wait for it to come out in the states.

The Flood / I think I found the deity of the Flood.
« on: September 25, 2014, 04:53:53 PM »

These, Ladies and Mentlegen, are the Egyptian gods Kek and Kauket. They are, as Touregypt.net so eloquently describe, the gods of Darkness. See here:

Quote
The Egyptians believed that before the world was formed, there was a watery mass of dark, directionless chaos. In this chaos lived the Ogdoad of Khmunu (Hermopolis), four frog gods and four snake goddesses of chaos. These deities were Nun and Naunet (water), Amun and Amaunet (invisibility), Heh and Hauhet (infinity) and Kek and Kauket (darkness). The chaos existed without the light, and thus Kek and Kauket came to represent this darkness. They also symbolized obscurity, the kind of obscurity that went with darkness, and night.

So, in both name and meaning, if The Flood had a deity or two, these should be them.

The Flood / Does anyone here watch Face Off?
« on: September 25, 2014, 10:17:32 AM »
The TV show, not the Nic Cage & John Travolta movie. For those of you who don't, it's a competition reality show where artists compete each week to do the best monster makeup when given a theme or premise. The end results are always really good, but recently they had an episode in which the contestants had to combine a childhood fear and a clown. While I'm not afraid of clowns, one of the artists childhood fear was a recurring nightmare he would have where he would be pulled into deep dark water by rotting, decomposing corpses. So his clown was a rotting corpse that had like, running wet makeup. But it was the most terrifying thing I've ever seen. I'll try and find a picture, but the closest thing I can compare it to is the zombie in the canister from Return of The Living Dead.

[edit]: found a pic.

[edit]: I don't mean waifu, and i don't even necessarily mean it in a romantic way. All I meant was that I can identify really well with a fictional character, and it's a tragedy I would never be able to meet him.

The Flood / New Jontron!
« on: September 24, 2014, 09:21:54 PM »
Its my favorite part of the undisclosed/unscheduled period of time between Jontron episodes... when that period is over! I think he's my favorite, if not one of my favorite content creators on youtube. While his content is infrequent, it makes it so much more special when it does come out, and it allows more time to be put into editing and writing than other content creators. That being said, I really do wish that we got more content. I like the new game grumps lineup, but it just doesn't give me my Jon fix anymore...

The Flood / You get a Million Smackaroonies
« on: September 24, 2014, 08:44:17 PM »
Everyone will forget that you were ever the gender you used to be, and if you are in a relationship with someone that person will still be attracted to you, even if this means that their sexual orientation changes. Essentially, you would be getting dropped into a parallel universe in which you were born the opposite gender, and are a million dollars (or pounds etc.) richer. Your socio-economic status might change as well, due to the whole glass ceiling thing.

The Flood / What would other species do in place of Anthropomorphism?
« on: September 24, 2014, 06:24:23 PM »
As a preface, I'm not necessarily talking about furries. I'm more referring to say, cartoon characters in general being based on animals, but being more physically akin to humans. Say, Bugs Bunny or The Foghorn Leghorn. Say that there was another intelligent species. I originally had in mind say, an alien race that looks nothing like humanity, but it would work just as well with a super-intelligent species of say... dogs. If that culture had, well, culture, and if it had art in the same vein as ours, what would their equivalent to anthropomorphism be? And what would a cartoon human that had been... Caninepomorphised... look like?

I don't think it would just look like an anthropomorphous dog, because those are much closer physiologically to a human. I think it would look really... gross. Maybe like a human in texture and head shape, but all contorted so it matched the general proportions of a dog. Yech...

Gaming / Anybody here play D&D?
« on: September 17, 2014, 08:19:07 PM »
I'm playing Dungeon Master for a game in which one of my friends is playing an Aasimarian Paladin, basically a semi-angelic battlemage healer. The other guy is playing a Skum (basically a less evolved Zora) named Slugger. The Skum plays like a little slimy tank, absorbing damage and dishing it out at a ludicrous rate.
Their usual battle strategy: the paladin throws the fish-thing at enemies, and the fish thing claws the enemies to pieces with his disgusting slimy claws. Also, the fish thing can't speak common speak, but the paladin can translate what he says, so in order for the fish to talk to npc's the paladin has to play interpreter.
Any funny D&D stories, flood?

The Flood / Here I am!
« on: September 17, 2014, 05:54:38 PM »
Buh, buh buh, rocked you like a hurricane!

After fighting the good fight back on B.net, I eventually determined that the Desticle threat had spread to far and too fast. The place is fucking overrun. Wait, did that not get -blam!-ed? That's going to take some getting used to. Anyway, I finally found the offsite, so here I am! I've been wondering where all you guys went. Vien, Mr. Psychologist, Mynameischarlie, I missed you guys! B.net is a ghost town, aside from the Desticles. Glad to finally be back home.
