The Flood / For once, I need actual advice
« on: March 26, 2018, 10:59:15 PM »
Whether or not this is the best place to come for stuff like this, it doesn't hurt to hear different opinions and advice.

I recently separated from my girlfriend after 6 years, and I am having a remarkably hard time dealing with it. I won't go into details as to why, because of the sheer amount of detail that goes into each element of what caused the downfall. I just don't know how to really move on from it. I can't communicate with her anymore, so I can't get closure or really anything. I honestly can't rap my head around moving on after losing the person I literally did everything with for 6 straight years. The person I have talked to literally every single day for 6 years. The only person I have ever been fully transparent with, and the only person in which I stayed genuine in every way imaginable. It was incredibly difficult and taxing to always be transparent, but I felt I owed it to her.

Hell, it has been so many years since I have been this down. I haven't had thoughts of self harm since middle school and early high school, but they came again, and I got uncomfortably close to acting on it on two different occasions over the last 3 days. It's just so much to wrap my head around and I just don't understand how all of this happened.

Was it a bad break up? In my opinion yes, as I have never had a break up which involved cutting all ties in terms of communication. I am just left alone with the thoughts that keep creeping into my mind, and the feeling of being alone.

I hope some of you guys have been in similar situations and can give me some advice. I know I will get some joke answers, but hopefully I do get something with substance because I really do need it.

Never could I have imagined the sheer amount of happiness that would come from having a canine best friend. I was told Shiba’s would be a bad first dog, but man has it been awesome.

Over a year in, and sure some minor furniture damage, but so worth it.

I just went down a crazy rabbit hole to try and find this game but I have had no luck. Did any of you play a game where you would create fighting robots, not like mechs, like those robots that have random shit attached to them like chainsaws and flamethrowers and are put in an arena and fight each other. It had sort of RPG elements. I just randomly had the urge to play it but it doesn't exist, or I just don't seem to google search the right things.

Anyone have any idea?

When I say obscure I mean obscure, as far as I know it wasn't a well known game in any regard.

I recently heard about that Gold Box, that brings cannabis products to you like a monthly loot box. I also just watched a vlog by Roosterteeth's Burnie Burns about it, and honestly, even if its a "high end" product, I will always see weed as a lower class/dirty thing. This isn't to say I look down on people who smoke, although it is always strange to see people I think are well to do, or the type that wouldn't smoke, doing it.

I guess it has to do with the culture behind it and the fact a large majority of people who smoke are annoying about it, or come across as obsessive. And this isn't even to say I see drinking in a better light, they both fall in the same category.

Have I smoked before? yes, but it isn't really something I could say I enjoyed. I barely drink, if at all. I don't know why.

Maybe it has to do with the stigma against it that I grew up with and around, and the fact the people I know who do smoke are mostly not great in terms of quality.

What do you guys think?

Gaming / I've fallen pray to microtransactions
« on: February 01, 2017, 11:54:19 PM »
I play a game on the App Store called Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes. It's the only app I've ever spent money on in terms of microtransactions. And today while looking at my recent purchases on my account I realized I've spent a little over $250. That's insane. And I never really noticed.

It's actually pretty crazy, I was genuinely shocked. Not that I necessarily regret it, and it's not that big of a deal because of how long I've been playing it and how much content the game puts out, but it's just weird to put that money there instead of a full fledged game.

Granted it's a damn good game, but still.

What's the most you've ever spent in a game outside of the base cost and DLC (actual micros)?

I understand making slight tweaks to the body for increases in down force and aerodynamics, but they really did too much. The Miura inspired rear wheel arch looks awful, the new front lip looks odd, the exposed air vents are even more prominent (as a nod to the murcilargo). I really dislike when they go back and add details to throw nods here and there. As proud as their heritage is, sometimes you need to relax.

Also 4 main iterations is way too much for a flagship.

Gaming / nVidia just announced something you all should listen to
« on: January 04, 2017, 09:16:32 PM »
nVidia announced a service that allows you to play any game, at max settings, on whatever PC you have. Meaning if you have a shit mac, you can play Windows games at Max settings. Via the cloud. Don't know how the hell it works, or how they did it, but it exists. Goes public in March

For $25 for 20 hours. So lets say you pay $250 you get 200 hours of play time. Lets say you were going to spend $1000 on a new PC, you can have the same performance on your current PC, and for that price you get 800 hours of play time. Which is a lot of time.

Gaming / I've thoroughly enjoyed FF XV
« on: December 29, 2016, 06:35:03 PM »
Much to my surprise. Saw it was on sale so I said mind as well. And I have been pleased by the decision.

The game's story didn't start off all too great. Atleast it didn't grab me or feel quality until chapter 7 (I think?). After an event that changes the characters, they begin to feel more believable. I hated Noctus' character (still hate Ignis but less now) but he finally has a coming of age, or atleast a realistic role after said event.

I'm towards the end, somehow the game became a spook fest now.

Combat is so fluid and fun. Took a while to understand that you can hold down buttons to parry and block, but after that it's been pretty easy going.

I've never played a FF game, never had an interest, never cared for it. Sure the game is not my type of style, not a fan of anime/Japanese styles but I can appreciate the overall effort and quality of the game. It has been hilariously Japanese at times, but I do have to admit it's pretty damn good.

I've always wanted a Shiba Inu, so 4 weeks ago I went and got one. It's my first dog, and the only dog I've ever really wanted. He wasn't the color I originally wanted but as soon as I saw him I knew I had to have him.

Smart pupper, very cute pupper. He's all over my snapchat. He's a mischievous fuck, but I love him.

I realized that being upset at this point does literally jack shit.

Can't reverse it. No point in being mad.

It's just a sad situation. Even if you wanted Trump to win, there's no denying that the United States and it's people are not in a great place.

Gaming / A comprehensive review of FIFA 17 (via Closed Beta)
« on: August 29, 2016, 01:50:32 AM »
So, much like last year I took part in the Closed FIFA Beta. And much to my surprise was it a LONG beta. 10 days to be exact so I got a lot of hands on time with the game. To preface, it is a beta, overalls aren't final and certain mechanics needed balancing. But as a whole it was pretty damn good, but not perfect.

For starters my initial beta was for Career Mode, both Be a Pro and Manager mode. As the beta progressed all modes were unlocked so I played FUT for the last three days. The Journey was not in the beta, which was not shocking.

The Good:
- Frostbite 3
- Atmosphere
- Player Models and Likenesses
- Player Movement and Animations
- Updated Manager Mode (more difficult this time too)

The Meh
- UI
- The Controls
- The Lighting
- AI player runs
- Manager scans (except Eddie Howe)
- New Freekick/Setpiece system

The Bad
- Low Driven Shots (more on that later)
- FUT pack drops
- FUT Squad Building Challenges
- Goalkeepers
- No Serie A or Serie B licenses (They have the teams, not the league, they are named Calcio A and Calcio B)
- Some celebrations have some of the worst motion capture ever (Ronaldo's celebration looks like it was captured by a 600 pound man. It was perfect in FIFA 16. Now it looks terrible.)

So lets start with an explanation for the good aspects. Frostbite blew me away, as I didn't believe it would look well when it came to FIFA. The pitch and updated stadiums look incredible. As time passes in a game the lighting will change, be it through placement of shadows or even turning night. The updated physics and collision engine also works even better. Physicality and player strength actually help now. Your placement on the ball helps with how much you can fight off or shield the ball, even the strongest of players can fall or be stripped if you have no leverage. This addition of physicality which is one of the three new mechanics allows a whole new way to play that previously wasn't feasible. Previously FIFA was all about pace. Still sort of is, but you have options. For example Olivier Giroud is actually useful now, because you can play as not only a target man, but a hold up attacker. You can effectively hold the ball up the pitch and wait for a full counter. Before you would be a fool to try that. Forwards with little to no pace were useless, no matter how good their shooting or skill capabilities were. Not only that but you get abilities with your added strength. Goal kicks are now not just first one to win the header wins, you can chest the ball down, or battle for it. Which gives a more dynamic feel to it all.

But the most noticeable upgrade of Frostbite is how the players look and feel. More players have their faces, and the new upgraded faces have incredible fidelity. Scanning technology has made leaps. Black players now have varied skin colors, as in previous FIFA's the lighting would react strangely to the skin and they would appear to dark, now they appear the correct skin color to who they are. Pogba and Balotelli have realistic skin tones now. Not only do faces look good, but they added more detail beyond that. As a game progresses players sweat. As they get tired their faces begin to get red, they begin to run in a more tired way, they make more mistakes and lose balance more often. Players get dirty, although this isn't new as in previous FIFA's you could see marks on the jerseys. Now players accumulate dirt on their bodies and cleats. Players foreheads or body parts get red after headers or taking a hard shot. There are numerous new emotional animations and their faces change in frustration. Constant errors by a player have more and more teammates berating him. Players rush the refs after hard fouls or controversial calls. You will see players be visibility upset if a call doesn't go their way, you'll see players smile after a good shot or chance. Keepers will yell and celebrate after saved penalties or crucial saves. They will also point at players out of positions and move them when they are in possession. Players will point for passes and get upset if you don't see it. Managers will celebrate goals and yell at players throughout the game. Players have more dramatic animations after a wonder goal or penalty time goal. Crowds get louder from crucial goals, and less into it if you pile on the score. In fact the crowd will get pretty quiet if your up 5-0 against a small club. New chants have been added, and some old ones brought in. I bought Ronaldo and brought him back to Manchester United and fans sang his songs. Everton fans boo when Rooney has the ball or scores. Aston Villa fans boo when Ashley Young touches the ball. Players will be more aggressive in Derby matches and even the animations in kit selections are different if its a rivalry.

Manager mode is now more in depth, you have to manage fan popularity and keep players happy. Depending on the club you have to give more youth players chances and constantly produce talent out of the academey. Failure to do major objectives lowers your popularity and may cause you to be removed. Signing big players brings revenue to your club via selling jerseys and selling more tickets. But selling a fan favorite will do the opposite. At giant clubs its not too different, but at small clubs you have both more freedom and more ways to mess up. It increases the challenge of bringing a championship side up to the Premier League.

With a lot of good comes some features that leave more to be desired. The UI felt confusing and unclean at times, but since it was a beta I'm sure it will be fixed. The design is nice as a whole. The lighting was also an odd one as jerseys seemed to bright when compared to the pitch and didn't change depending on time of day. Players weren't making as frequent runs, some even stopping dead rather then following through. Numerous times did players like Aguero and Luis Suarez stop dead in their tracks for no reasons. Manager face scans do not look as phenomenal as the should. Although its the first year they could be much better. Except Eddie Howe (Bournemouth Manager) he looks real. Also the new free write free kick system took away a lot of ability. You are forced to move a player from his natural starting position, which is not real. Memphis Depay should be able to have the correct amount of power and curve in his starting position. Those numbers should change depending on where I move. They also basically removed the ability to do dipping driven shots, which was the best free kick but hardest to pull off. The new corner system is terrible in my opinion. You aim with a reticle that isn't even accurate and its very hard to pull a driven pass to players on top of the box. You also can't control the angle or power of the cross. Its always lofted.

The bad was, well, bad. Low driven shots, a new mechanic is broken beyond belief. In fact, if you do a low driven shot it is impossible for a goalie to save it. No matter how much pace is on it. It can be going 2 mph and the goalie will not be able to block it. No matter how good he is. Goalies as a whole feel very poor and unreliable. David De Gea and Manuel Neuer felt no better then a 65 overall no name goalie. FUT drops were so bad too. I opened 80 gold packs, and 10 rare player packs (100k equivalent) and the best players I got were Aguero and Diego Godin. Thats it. Which is the worst I have ever seen. The new squad building challenges are even worse. Whatever players you use to complete the challenge, for example build a squad made of La Liga players that has 100 chemistry and 85 rating for a rare James Rodriguez card. The squad you use to complete the challenge is deleted and you lose all the players for that one card. And that's a god tier team that is needed to complete it.

And yes, as of right now they do not have the rights to Serie A or Serie B (Italian top league). Which is embarrassing. They atleast have there rights to the teams and players.

Overall there was a lot of good, but for once there were enough issues to prevent me from being blown away. If low driven shots are fixed, and the AI is fixed, then it would be the best FIFA yet, but those two issues alone are pretty significant.

If you have any questions that I didn't answer please ask. Be as specific as you want. I played around 30 hours total so I know quite a lot.

NOTE: I didn't bother checking for spelling or grammatical error.

Gaming / Played CS:GO for the first time today
« on: July 19, 2016, 09:05:13 PM »
Man did it take some time to get used to. I played it on my gf's brothers computer, never thought about buying it or ever playing it but he said it was fun so I gave it a go.

Started off very frustrating, I was thinking ill time my shots rather then being full auto to keep accuracy, didn't work. Basically it all about spraying and just aiming at people's legs. Well, at least its what I started doing and it ended up with me going positive and winning arms race games.

But honestly, even though its pretty fun, its not something I ever thought would cost $15. I always thought it was $5 or less. I was totally down to buy it for $5 but at $15 there's not really a chance for me to get it. Ill wait for a sale (If its a game that goes on sale, ever.) And no, I know its about $5 on G2A but I'm never buying from there, too shady. Not worth the "discount".

Any of you play CS:GO? I'd love to play with you guys and maybe learn a thing or two. There are a lot of aspects I don't get, so some help would be nice.

And I'm okay with that.

One of my favorite stories is about how I loved Ronaldhino, the legendary Brazillian, before I ever knew who he was, or what Brazil even was.

I used to always play World Cup 98 on the N64, I was also four years old when I started playing it (2 years late), and at a young age I started liking yellow (which is my favorite color), and in that came the only team with a yellow jersey was Brazil. I would always play as them, didn't know if they were good or bad or anything.

On top of that, I would always pick to play (or customize) #10. They didn't have names in that game, or even modeled the players after the real players (even by skin color) but I always without fail would do whatever I could to score with #10.

It became my favorite number, the number I chose in every sport I played, in every way I could.

And I'll never forget the one day I saw Brazil playing on TV. I told my mom that it was the "yellow shirt people" I would play as in the "ball game" and when I saw #10 dancing around I smiled because I would tell her that was me. And then that's when I saw who it was, the greatest player to ever grace the sport (in my opinion), Ronaldhino. His touch, his class, his flair, his finesse, and his joy for the game has not been matched by anyone else. I have never seen anyone do something with as much joy as he played football.

Do you guys have any stories like that?

29
The idea that women should be seen as equals in men in regards of pay and eligibility in certain things, as well as getting rid of roles isn't bad at all. People seem to forget that, breaking down that is legitimately the correct thing to do.

It's what prevlalent "feminists" that have warped the actual idea behind the movement.

Sure I don't agree with everything, that comes with anything, but the general idea is perfectly fine.

I think people need to realize that.
