I agree, Verb is a good fella

i'd say i'm halfway there, but my inability to squat properly is rather discouraging

The smith machine won't help with that

hmm, i remember sleeping on it because YMS gave it a 5/10 (not that he's an authority; we just look for similar things in movies), but since you thought to make a thread specifically to recommend me something, i suppose i can check it out, since the premise is definitely intriguing

it's currently finals week atm though, so i'll be busy all weekend + i'm seeing endgame on sunday, so i'll need a minute

It's not great, but antinatalism, or at least some of its concepts, are almost nonexistent in film and I thought you may enjoy it. I hope you like it, but I agree with the YMS review.

So one odd thing about NZ I've come across is that black or drip coffee doesn't exist.  It's all espresso drinks, like flat whites or lattes, or an americano, which is the closest thing to a black coffee.

Other than that it's a beautiful country that has tons to offer. Can't recommend it enough.

Come to Australia my guy

I'll be to Brisbane this summer. Are you on the east, or west coast?

Anyone been/live there? I'm flying into Auckland and will be exploring both main islands. If you live there, let's grab a beer. If you've been there, feel free to throw out recommendations for bars or places to see. <3

Corpus Christi? Any idea which squadron he'll be going to?

What's up my dude?

I'm back home in Japan after 6 months at sea, which was a weird experience. How have things been? I'm glad to see this site's still active.

Should bakeries be forced to bake cakes for Alex Jones?

Bukakaries should

I've been in Japan almost a year and I still can't find one of those boo cakes, even though I keep asking people.

so i played a couple hours of dark souls 2 just to get a little taste

...Hmm.

those are my thoughts; will not continue until after my review is posted

i also begun my other project and i'm trying to figure out the best way to drop it

Dark Souls 2 is great if you're willing to unlearn everything from Dark Souls 1.

The Wind Rises?
6/10

tied with princess mononoke (which i also rewatched and decided i was too harsh with) for my favorite miyazaki

Neat

I found that the subdued fantastical elements and themes led me to enjoy it more than other Miyazaki films.

You've covered every anime I've seen, so I look forward to trying some that you recommend. I watched Ergo Proxy after you rated it, and I'm planning to give Evangelion a try.

The Flood / Re: Solo thread

I don't like how they neutered Han Solo. He wasn't a macho male role model who initiates the plot but rather a one-sided comic relief character who was just along for the ride. I found every other character in the movie more interesting than him.

Well he kind of grew into that by the end. It wouldn't be very interesting if his character was the same as he was at the start of ANH, right? But I do agree he didn't feel like the protagonist.

I guess most of The Flood still hasn't seen Disney's Pixar's Marvel's Star Wars: Solo: A Star Wars Story, A Disney Production yet. Can anyone give me a verdict on whether or not to see it based on my opinion that The Last Jedi was a fucking dumpster fire?

Solo takes zero risks and is basically a Disneyfied fanfic, so you'd probably like it over TLJ.

The Flood / Re: Shows/Music/Movies/ebook recommendations

The Expanse is pretty good. I'd recommend both the books and show if you're into science fiction at all. It's a fairly hard (when compared to your typical hollywood scifi) take on a colonised system and a cold war between Earth, Mars and the populations of the Asteroid Belt. It has some weird stuff like stupidly efficient drives and no radiators but ships have to do deceleration burns, there's no lasers or plasma weapons and gravity is provided by centrifugal force or thrust of engines. It also does a really nice job of fleshing out the cultures of Mars and the Belt based on the conditions they live in, and makes the world feel very believable.

The first couple episodes of the show are a little slow to start off because they're mostly just worldbuilding stuff to get the viewers caught up with how everything works,so I'd say that if you're not interested by episode 4 then chances are you won't be interested in everything after (personally, I was hooked more or less based on how good the opening titles were because they just "felt" something unique), but otherwise I think it's the best space scifi we've had on TV since the early 2000s. The production value is really nice too, the CGI and sets look pretty great for the most part, and they only get better as it goes on.

I actually have The Expanse downloaded already. I watched one episode and thought it was a bit rough but I've heard nothing but good things so I'm sure it'll pick up.

It was surprisingly good not bad. I don't think it needed to exist, but I had a good time, and thought it was pretty exciting. Somehow, the truckload of references and callbacks didn't engulf the rest of the experience.

I'm leaving again this weekend and wanted to get any last minute recommendations for media before going. I'll buy books or movies, but I'd probably end up torrenting shows so avoid recommending those if you're opposed to piracy.

Back around December, bye.

He didn't kick her off; he only interrupted her when the crowd booed, then he let her do it again and the crowd was still a bunch of dumbfucks so he stopped it again.

So... Blame the crowd? Apparently the festival this was at is just a bunch of drunk underage teens so it's no surprise they were shitty.

Every Madea movie released is a violent assault on trans rights

Speaking from your own biases here. Some old cunt from 1940 probably could just as easily feel that "nigger" does come off the tongue easily, and being able to just say "nigger" instead of otherwise describing a person is incredibly convenient.
Whether or not "nigger" rolls off the tongue doesn't make it a word that's used for convenience or one of the main every day words in the English language. "Nigger" could be erased from the world and the English language would be fine, not the case for "he/she".

Maybe "nigger" used to be the acceptable way to refer to a black person, but it fell out of use by the insistence of black people that it be stopped. It didn't just happen naturally; the acceptability of the phrase had to be intentionally erased. I imagine we're seeing the same thing here, where maybe it's currently okay (but really not) to intentionally refer to an open transperson by a pronoun or name they don't prefer, and they're fighting against it so that in X number of years people will see it as as hateful of an intention as using the word "nigger".
