As in there was no mention of her until that scene She just disappeared and came back for that one scene seems unnecessary
Actually showing the audience what happens goes a long way There's always that disconnect from being told/implied vs actually seeing it unfold neither of those are bad lines (or scenes)
I guess it comes down to opinion

Yes he was placed in a shitty situation but the execution was shit That scene wasn't that bad but it could've gone better Like maybe develop the mother son relationship better Not cut her out and randomly had her come back after one movie Also, actually showing him kill the sand people would've been a major impact on the viewer Maybe it's the PG 13 rating but it was a pivotal scene and needed something more than a cut away But it is one of the better scenes in the trilogy Still what about "I don't like sand" and "Now this is podracing!" A couple of good scenes doesn't make him a good character

he's comic relief--that's his whole purpose, and he fulfilled that purpose reasonably well

But only after rewatching it When you still took it seriously, each joke was painful The gags were boring and cliche He was only funny in the same way you watch bad movies to laugh hayden christensen did a fine job

Jar Jar was great.
We don't need to know them but they were more interesting than the protagonists who we had to sit through all three movies with How was Jar Jar great? In the sense that you weren't laughing at his character the whole movie Never once has my opinion of a movie came down to its acting--ever. It doesn't matter.
Not even in drama? Anakin was portrayed very well.
The only point in which Anakin became interesting was the second half of Episode III The rest of the time, he was literally a teenager going through puberty Failed to deliver on any potential set up in the original trilogy And it doesn't help that he was played by the worst actor in the franchise

Most of those characters are just faces in the background and we didn't get to know them at all Qui Gon had such potential but then they killed him off in the first movie And lol Jar Jar acting is the shittiest possible reason to gauge a movie's quality

Not really It can really make or break a movie Especially when you have such a shitty script as the prequels like who
C3PO turned into from funny to just annoying and the R2 + C3PO chemistry wasn't there Yoda did nothing but sit in a counsel And obviously Anakin What they did to him was unforgivable
