The Flood / Re: Which member would you raise a baby with?
« on: October 31, 2015, 09:20:46 AM »
Honestly, I don't see anyone here being a responsible parent. Like at all. All the parents I've seen here and back on bungle have some major personality issues. Plus this place is like mostly men.

The Flood / Super AIDS is a real thing.

There's a new strain of HIV that can progress to AIDS in three years instead of the usually ten years it takes without treatment. Gotta use condoms dealing with these sloots.

Judging from how the officer turns her desk over then drags her across the room I'd guess that this is a case of excessive force. That's only conjecture though as I haven't seen the full video and even then there's probably more to the story.

She didn't even report getting hurt, but now her attorney says she's wearing a cast.

Such fucking horseshit.  She's going to play the role of the hurt little black baby to the media and rake in all the attention attention and cash.
Typical white boy seeing black people abused as another reason to pull the race card when something is obviously excessive.

You'd have to be a special kind of idiot to think a grown man twice the size of a girl is allowed to flail her around like that.  The tone would be very different if that was your sister or something.

I'm about to go to Barnes and Noble for a book on quantum mechanics. But I'm open to something else, so if I get a good enough recommendation I'll get it. As long as it isn't really expensive.

The Flood / What would happen if we discovered alien life?

Like let's say we discovered definitive proof of alien life, what do you think would happen? What would change?

The Flood / So is the whole season of South Park...
« on: October 29, 2015, 01:03:06 PM »
Going to be satire about how ridiculous liberal society can be? The episodes are done well and all, but the whole season? Isn't this the last one? Seems like a waste, but maybe there's a bigger plan here.

I shave my torso and downstairs with an electric trimmer. Tried using a razor and it never ends well. I do this about once a week or before a special occation.

I've noticed the people that constantly complain about this generation, while being a part of it, usually have no friends. Which is most likely why they hate everyone.

How about breaking down the demographics more instead of just looking at the majority party of the state? That should be the first step.

It happened yesterday but I locked my keys in my car and called campus PD to get them out. Took like 10 minutes but it felt like a while since they had to shimmy this stick through the door.

You don't have to be poor to eat McDonald's. 😒

It's good for mass production, but it sucks for general health and quality. I could go on about the links to various modern health issues but the industry is basically set in stone.

The Flood / What fast food restaurant has the best breakfast?
« on: October 28, 2015, 11:33:49 AM »
We've reached a point in history where every fast food joint is selling breakfast, and McDonald's changed the game with their all day thing. So, which one has the best breakfast menu? It's not an easy choice.

I haven't gotten a flu shot in years and I've never had the flu in my life. I'm in my prime so I'll be alright, one less needle prick.

but you might as well get the full details of finance so you'll know how to challenge them in life.
I'm a financially stable adult that learned some stuff in econ, but I wouldn't even know what kind of things to include in that class, and I know with near certainty that most of it would go in one ear and out the other because it's not relevant. There's so much other information to be learned in high school that it's really not necessary to include life lessons which are learned through experience, especially when we have access to so much information these days.

School is academic, not practical.
So the logic here is essentially let's not include a practical class in school since it can be learned through life lessons, which is not standardized at all for everyone. High school is a four year endeavor, you can fit a semester of finance, bro.

Nah but for real, Challenger is right.

You don't see Asians looting and robbing and blaming white people. Even though they arguably, had it just as bad as blacks in america. Same as the Irish.
Bullshit. Years of slavery and institutionalized racism has been way worse for black people than any other race. To say otherwise is just ignorance of basic American history. Blacks were treated like shit for the majority of Americas existence. And that was just under the law.

Irish and Asian immigrants were basically slaves long after slavery was abolished, and 70 years ago we literally rounded up Japanese and Chinese Americans and put them in camps because we didn't trust them. It's not a pissing content, but it is apparent that Asians assimilated much faster than blacks, despite institutional racism for both groups.
Since when was being "basically slaves" comparable to actual organized slavery against blacks for a century? It's hard to compare rounding up Asians in WWII to the legal lynching of blacks and common assault on blacks during the same time. Any historian will agree that blacks were the bottom tier of American society for the majority of its existence. Let's think about it, we know the law did nothing to prosecute the common murders against blacks, we have a century of slavery, blacks were denied equal rights and had enforced segregation another century following its abolishment, we have clear evidence of socioeconomic discrepancies, blacks are commonly harassed by law enforcement even today, etc.

Yeah you can argue it's not a pissing contest, but what you can't argue is the slew of facts in history that show how blacks were one of the most mistreated ethnic groups.

like why the fuck don't they teach this shit in school?

Because parents. There's so much shit that you could experience as an adult, and none of it means anything to you as a high schooler, you'd retain nothing.

Whenever I run into problems I don't know how to handle, I just Google it or call my dad.
I disagree. I feel like public schools should teach basic things related to finance at the latter part of high school since you're almost an adult at that point.

Does your school not offer econ courses?
It did, but Econ and finance are two different things.

I learned taxes and basic investment information in my high school econ class.
Okay. But a class dedicated to personal finance would still be better. It leaves little room for fluctuation in the curriculum. I mean yeah an econ class may or may not touch on it, but you might as well get the full details of finance so you'll know how to challenge them in life. But I mean, I guess what we're doing now is still working.

Serious / Re: Why should transgenderism be something we "accept"?
« on: October 27, 2015, 08:54:18 PM »
The thing is normal people can never really invalidate the whole concept of transgenderism. If someone feels like they're a different sex than what they're born, I can't really say they're full of shit or have some kind of mental illness (which is sort of is by definition). That being said I can't say they're hurting anyone, I just will never understand it and am glad I don't have to suffer with an identity issue like that.
I never understood the thought process of, just because you don't understand or "get" something, it means you suddenly have to dislike or disapprove of it.

I'm not just referring to trans/gay issues, I mean in general
I'm not saying I disapprove if that's what you're saying. But if not, I agree. But when you really look at it, the lack of understanding something about a group of people makes you want to turn to stereotypes and assumptions to fill the void. It's just how we are, and when something is truly understood, then acceptance is easy.
