Or pounds or euros. Whatever you use, be we all know that USD is prime quality.
But anyway you won a million dollars, what's the first three things you'd buy?

For me, a house, pay for college, and... a dinner at Applebee's.

The Flood / Have you ever browsed this forum drunk or high?
« on: July 12, 2015, 02:42:05 PM »
I was smoking with a buddy of mine and decided to browse this place. I noticed our interactions are kind of hostile 90 percent of the time. The shit posting (or randomness) is also very high. I don't see this on my regular forums. Not that this is a bad thing. Hell, I'm just curious if anyone else browsed this place under the influence of a foreign substance.

I'd say the AR platform if you do it right. I believe HK managed to reduce the jamming problem by using some gas expulsion modification. Been a while since I've delved into rifles though.

Serious / Re: African Americans in sports and slave breeding.
« on: July 11, 2015, 11:06:39 PM »
The breeding wasn't for physical attributes, but to get free slaves. I don't think there's much merit to your theory. Superiority in sports is pretty much entirely due to height differences and related body attributes.
It was for both, mostly physical attributes. A slave owner that wants to make some decent profit will breed slaves to maximize their performance. Which they did.

There's no evidence of this. It's all supposition. There's barely even evidence of any widespread breeding let alone trying to isolate certain traits, which would take many generations and couldn't have possibly resulted in any radical changes like you're claiming.
Nah man it's been documented. And it seems plausible that some changes could have been seen over the few centuries.

If it's been well-documented, then site some sources. And just a reminder that black slavery only existed for 90 years in America, not a few centuries (America hasn't even existed that long).
Middle passage started in the 1500's. Slavery predates the establishment of America. Also I provided a link.

Your link has a couple written quotations. It has absolutely no credible, peer-reviewed research to back up the claim. Obviously slavery predates America, but indentured servitude affected all races, not just blacks. The point is that no, slavery didn't produce really great basketball players, and there's no evidence of any widespread effort to breed strong slaves.
Literally the second link from a Google search. http://spartacus-educational.com/USASbreeding.htm

Also bringing up that blacks aren't the only ones affected by "indentured servitude" isn't relevant. All the information is documented. Let's not play games, the Internet is a haven of information.

Serious / African Americans in sports and slave breeding.
« on: July 10, 2015, 10:49:04 AM »
I was reading about this theory that states the reason why so many African Americans dominate certain sports. It can be agreed that some of the greatest athletes in American history were black, but what's the connection? Well some propose that it's due to our genetics. But not African genetics, as most pure Africans from the mainland or other non American countries, but African American genetics.
The theory is based on basic evolutionary principles. The strongest Africans survived the boat ride, which resulted in what I believe was thousand of lives. Once they were here, they had to survive the working conditions, etc.
The kicker is that the southern states had breeding farms for blacks, which I never learned in American history, but then again they left out that LSD mind control experiment and the pardoning of unit 731.
But yeah, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slave_breeding_in_the_United_States

So, what do you think about this theory?

Serious / Re: Veganism Discussion: Keep it clean
« on: July 10, 2015, 10:43:56 AM »
It's pointless imo and I would just be limiting my nutritional intake.
AFAIK, vegan diets are about as nutritional as standard diets, if you know what you're doing.
I believe this is true, however it requires a bit of supplementation and a good analysis of the food you choose. I try to supplement only protein and it's not cheap, so I imagine the work of a vegan diet is a bit pricey and time consuming. Although I'm basing this on assumption, it just doesn't seem like something I'd do.

Serious / Re: Veganism Discussion: Keep it clean

I couldn't care less about vegans and the concept of being vegan. It's pointless imo and I would just be limiting my nutritional intake. Vegans who do it for the sake of animals achieve nothing. If people do it for health reasons, then whatever. I don't care either way.

The Flood / Re: The color of the Martian surface.
« on: July 09, 2015, 10:44:08 AM »
Yeah

Hard to say, but we can only really look at it from our isolated perspective. The evolutionary conditions of another planet could have been such that aggressiveness and competition wasn't necessary for a dominant species. From our perspective that sounds unreasonable and contradictory, but given the complexities of life we really can't say for sure. Extraterrestrial life might not even be carbon based.
Frankly space is so vast that our messages might not even make it to intelligent life, and if they do they probably can't be deciphered, and even if they can be deciphered we'd probably be long gone by the time they were.

But assuming our message was received in a timely manner and translated by this intelligent species (or multiple species), I'd argue it's not a good idea, but also not a bad one given the potential of meeting and cooperating with extraterrestrial life. If it results in a war, well we done just fucked up.

The Flood / The color of the Martian surface.
« on: July 07, 2015, 11:18:45 PM »
Apparently Mars isn't as red as we might have initially thought. I was reading about color calibration for the Martian rover and it turns out that a lot of images are processed through a filter or taken during dust storms in which the Martian surface appears to be of a reddish tone. But apparently the color is a lot more earth like. Sort of like this...

It's interesting because the rover actually had a sundial with red, green, blue, and yellow tabs on it for nasa to adjust and analyze the color.

This is the best image I could find with color comparisons on the rover. It's claimed this is taken after a dust storm cleared. Thoughts?

I'm nice to everybody in real life unless I have a reason not to be, and that would have to be an extreme reason. As far as racist, I just have a rule of not trusting white people. I don't consider it racist but eh.
Oh sure, but when I say "Around blacks, never relax" I'm fucking racist.
Nah you alright. There's some black people even I wouldn't chill around. Especially given the things I've seen.

What sort of dog is it?
And is it active much?
A beagle mixed with something I don't know. But generally the size of a beagle. And she's moderately active. Chases a few things here and there.

Was talking to a dude at work about EVs and gas mileage. Got me wondering what some other people are working with. My car is estimated at 35mpg. Can't complain.
