we get tornadoes from time to time. not super strong ones, but enough to do some damage. in fact northern VA is under a Watch right now.

Yep the storm that hit my area is heading that way. It was pretty bad not gonna lie I haven't seen it hail like that in a long time.

i live in tornado alley

Same. And I survived a tornado when i was younger, our backyard however, did not. Which ended up being pretty cool because all of the downed trees made an amazing jungle for playing in.

How big of trees are we talking about hearing snapped?!

That's a pretty bad ass way of viewing it.

It was scary as hell because it was extremely loud and you could hear trees snapping. It was intense.

I think it would be fun to go tornado chasing. How close did you get?
probably about 3 miles at my closest which still seems really close with how large they can be

I live in Atlanta. We hardly ever have snow let alone tornadoes.
The closest I have ever been to a tornado would have been back in 2008.
http://www.ourgeorgiahistory.com/ogh/georgia_tornadoes

"A strong tornado strikes the Georgia World Congress Center, Phillips Arena, The Equitable Building, and the Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill (now upscale condos). Nearby, the Georgia Dome suffers damage while the Southeastern Conference men's basketball tournament is being held inside. Numerous minor injuries and one life-threatening injury are reported."

I was near by LARPing at a state park campground. We didn't have much shelter beside the tiny one or two cot cabins, and it was hailing the size of golf balls. Now you try remaining in character while you are freaking the fuck out on the inside and on the outside your assassin has to act unafraid.

There were multiple tornadoes that day at least three in my area and we were dead center about a three mile radius from each tornado, but luckily they attacked Atlanta and not our campground.

here's an area in Moore that was leveled by the strongest ever recorded F5 as seen in the left. The right picture is another tornado that wasn't quite as strong, I believe it was a F4, but it took the same exact path as the one in 1999. Those people should consider moving.

Wow!!! I would have definitely moved!

Well luckily the funnel didn't actually touch down but it was pretty damn close to my work.
I didn't get any cool pictures of it because I was at work directing people to safety during the tornado warning.
So I google it and found some pictures from today.

Cool hail
Spoiler

When I got home I found some of this type of hail in my backyard.

This is the funnel that passed by my work

Holy shit balls I was loosing my cool when the rain and hail started to go sideways.
I'm a shift manager at my work and I had to direct everyone in the store what to do.
Needless to say I was a scared bitch.

I have never actually been in a Tornado.
Does anyone have tornado experiences they wanna share?

Serious / Re: Flex Your Rights
« on: April 20, 2015, 09:06:07 AM »

>implying I have any rights living in the communist reich of Europe

But in all seriousness, I never had to do much flexing of my rights. Never met any police officer that was in any way trying to intimidate me or keep me down. All of them seemed like genuinely good cops and were extremely friendly to me.

I would love to some day visit Europe and see for myself not only the social culture but how the police act. In America if you look suspicious you will be watched and most likely approached my police.
Can confirm American cops are nosy as fuck.

Just yesterday I was sitting in my car with my girlfriend at a local park, we met up to talk through some relationship issues. Not 15 minutes into our conversation a deputy shows up and demands ID. Tells us the park closes at dusk, even though it's not quite dusk yet, and demands we leave.

In that situation you do not have to show them your ID's because you were not being pulled over or detained. That officer was violating your rights. Sure he could of said "hey guys the park closes at dusk and if you're not gone by then I will have to ask you to leave"
