Nothing, but do you think that Cheat and the mods can't do a good enough job of that?
There aren't many problems it can have.
Overly defensive, sure why not. Because you and Rocket acting like the site police about something that Cheat would never implement without care is totally needed.
I probably said something like that because, guess what, you're second guessing the admin, again here as well.
He's not infallible, but he's not as carefree as you seem to want to think.

stop trying your hardest to deconstruct something that doesn't need it.
I've said it wasn't a completed idea multiple times now, yet both of you seems to want to nitpick.

-Doesn't matter if the staff can discuss the idea, they've been open to other people's opinions in the past and I don't see what's wrong with giving my input.
-"There aren't many problems it can have." From the POV of the guy who proposed the idea, maybe not.
-Site police? For what, talking to you? I guess you're passive aggressiveness over something as trivial as this is needed too, right?
-"Not infallible" - and therefore, I can challenge whatever he says whenever I want. Get over it.
-I know it's not a completed idea, that's why I replied in the first place.

Someone really can't handle criticism. This didn't need to be an argument.

This is a thread for people to apply in. Maybe you guys should take this discussion somewhere else if you really need to talk about this.
If a mod wants to move the posts, I welcome it.

It seems a comment of a vague idea I spouted offends people.
For someone applying to be a monitor, you're pretty bad at reading people if you think I'm "offended"and not just... you know, discussing the idea with you.
If you insist continuing this.

That was a poor choice of words.

How about this: For an idea I offhandedly offered at Slash, an idea I put only a small amount thought into before posting, you and Rocket seemed to decide to poke holes in it for no reason,
Why?

I responded to someone else with it. And Cheat responded to me in a positive manner.
What further need was there for discussing it?

Then when I try to point out the merits of the idea, you decide to dance around semantics.
That must mean I'm offended, right?
What's wrong with discussing it? Maybe something could come of it, like ironing out the problems it could potentially have.
Seriously, all I've done here is try to talk about your idea, and you're getting overly defensive about it. You did this before when I talked to cheat and you replied with "clearly Zizzy knows how to run your site better than you do". Do you understand that by spotting something that could be a problem, I'm not attacking you?

The worst part is that we have too many members qualified for this position. Good people will end up getting passed over in this round but in time and growth hopefully they'll get there someday.
If that's the case, I wonder if a thing like "Mod for a week" or something could be implemented?
Some sort of test for members or just to mix things up in the staff occasionally.
It might be an interesting thing to do when you want to gauge a member or just try to give people a chance they might not have otherwise.
"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."
I'm pretty sure the mods have said there's a log that's kept saying who took what moderation action.
Still though, it's hard to evaluate someone in such a short space of time. You could have a week of virtually no rule breaking.
It's one thing if there's no rule breaking.
It's another if the user doesn't abuse the power.
That should be a given. Not abusing power is not something that should seriously be considered "mod material". It reminds me of the Futurama joke
"Ah, yes, John Quincy Adding Machine. He struck a chord with the voters when he pledged not to go on a killing spree."
I'm sorry I have to say this, but.

What is "mod material"?
Baiting and attempting to shock users frequently?
Using Nazi imagery and (what looks like) supporting it?

The mods we have are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.
But they do their job.
Nothing to do with what I said. I wasn't saying "not abusing your power makes you a bad mod", I was saying it doesn't make you a good one.
