No, I was working on top of the box the Mobo came in.
I distinctly remember trying to watch videos on installing it but all of them cut out the part of installing the back plate which was what I was having difficulties with. Honestly, I don't really see the issue with the stock cooler.
you put in the screws part way first and then tighten them diagonally, do it gradually so you dont go too tight in one corner
did you put the motherboard in the case before you put on the heatsink
stock coolers are mostly fine its just such a small extra cost to make your pc better

Putting on the back plate while needing the screws to keep it in place required more than the two hands I was given. Plus, it was my first time so I didn't want to be too rough with my components. Ultimately I got everything put together to the point where it was time to put the heat sink on but one the screws was screwed in more than the other so I couldn't put it in without crushing my CPU.
I'll try and install it again....eventually....

just put on thermal paste and screw it in, if you can pick up the motherboard by the cooler it's tight enough

It was $2k. And I have a Hyper 212-EVO, but that thing was an absolute NIGHTMARE to install so I gave up and just went with the stock cooler. I'm not overclocking so I don't need an aftermarket cooler in the first place. Temps are fine so long as I limit my framerate in video games which I need to do anyway otherwise my GPU fans will start roaring like a jet engine.
1000 and didnt spend a 20 bucks extra on a decent cpu cooler? what do you mean nightmare to install, thats the same one i have just put on thermal paste and screw it in, if you can pick up the motherboard by the cooler it's tight enough you install it like any cooler
