I don't really see why not.
a lot of fighting games use frame count for their moves and this could really mess up competitive games, you could end up having twice the amount of invincibility frames or such playing at half fps or something
Well, if you're playing at half fps, that's a problem--the game wasn't meant to be run that way, so you're gonna have problems. If the fighting game is designed to play at 20fps could totally work out.

I don't know any fighting games that have that low of a frame rate, but still. The point is that frames just have to be consistent. Whether it's consistently 30 or consistently 60 doesn't matter.

The only thing you can argue is that more frames = smoother animation, but not everyone places importance on that.

if everyone had to play at the same fps for any game they probably wouldnt care that much which is pretty much whats going on with the console side of things

and there's also beta movement i learnt about in perception computing

it's just easier on the eyes, perceived motion is just more convincing with a higher framerate, human eyes obviously dont operate on refresh rates but it helps, especially with things like VR

again you probably dont need more than 30 fps to play any game, its just one of the nice to haves

im not sure about the technical thing, some mechanics do count under that and are done very well, i think you mean just graphics

id like to say graphics do matter depending on the game, whether you like the game or not new graphics technologies make it easier for developers to follow artstyles and concepts closer, while it isnt necessary some games do make great use of it, not only being in an artistically consistent world but a beautiful one too

i do prefer stylized graphics and such if it's done really well like in firewatch, and high-resolution textures such as the map allowed me to actually use a map in the game and navigate from it

i have games where i just sort of chill on for fun
YouTube

it's possible to enjoy a game without any fancy graphics obviously but it is nice to play in a convincing and detailed, polished environment

low-poly art is great

Anything under a consistent 30 FPS is unplayable.
Tell that to the millions of people who have played and enjoyed games like Ocarina of Time--which runs at 20fps, which can drop to 15fps depending on the area. Considered one of the greatest games of all time.

You may not agree with that, but it sure makes your sweeping statement sound pretty dumb.

depends on the game

you can maybe play skyrim at like 10 fps cause the combat is dumb and slow but you probably cant play an fps effectively at less than 20 fps or a fighting game competitively at less than 30 fps

This one is actually pretty great. It would work well. I may want to see about changing it a TINY bit, maybe just the case or processer. Preferences and all.
I wouldn't change the processor unless you're thinking of going AMD or something

you'll have to buy a cooler too if you want an i5 6600k and an i7 build is probably not possible without spending another 100

that i5 is as good as it gets without sacrificing anything else

True...
But if I did decide to go closer to 1k that i7 does look good.

people always like the sound of an i7 when building a gaming pc but the fact is that going from a 970 to a 980ti will almost double your performance in games, upgrading to an i7, you probably wouldn't even notice a 10% performance increase

it's a mistake most people make especially for PCs specifically towards gaming

that i5 1k build with a 980ti will run rings around a 1k i7 970 build when it comes to gaming performance
again it's not a work computer so yeah, the i7 will be better at photoshop and video rendering or whatever else but for games you probably won't be able to tell

go for it if you want but if you want the most performance in 3D applications, having a bigger GPU is way more important than an i7, besides, you can always upgrade that later

The only reason I would get an i7 is for that render ability, since i'm practicing game design and have dabbled a little bit into the 3d aspects. Which is something my "work" computer can't do at all.

Other than that. No real reason.
video rendering is different from 3D rendering, and that alone requires specialty workstation cards not normally used by consumers, such as nvidia quadros and AMD firepros which are thousands of dollars each on their own for the latest models, which are designed specifically for things like rendering movie CG and perform rather poorly in realtime 3D applications such as games.

either way in this case the 980ti would still be better than having an i7, since it is still a 3D application you're working with, ultimately most modern software would offload as much of the calculations to the GPU as possible as well as have support for GPU acceleration

the i7 would see more use in this than in games because of HT but would still not be as fast as having a 980ti and an i5. Again, the question here is if you want the best possible gaming PC for this price or a workstation machine, because without a GPU you could just build a server instead. I can't stop you though, it's your money, if you really really want the i7, get one

also the source white is the same price if you just want to change the color, otherwise you probably won't find a case that has as good cable management or cooling options at that price, there are many cheaper, but won't be as decent

Wait for the 1080/1070 to come out.
this too but maybe a month after this so nvidia board partners release some other options

Okay I looked at your anime list and can easily see you like shows with action, but also a high stakes story (hi FMA). I have one for you then, and you need to watch this. Don't listen to anyone else, because it's one of the better anime's I've personally seen and loved.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Gurren Lagann), preferably dubbed because Yuri Lowenthel (main character) is mai waifu, and the person that voices the other MC (Kamina) is adult Gohan's voice actor. Watch this show, love the ost, love the characters, love everything.

Either torrent it (HD) or go here (first one I could find, so there might be better ones)

Have fun, and expect Fear to hate me.

So the Xbox One really is shit then?
Compared to the other consoles?

They're all pretty shit, because they're consoles.

So you have no real "Which is better"

It all depends on what games you want, where the most of your friends are and what you'll be playing together.
