I'm not saying I wouldn't love to master that, just observing the trickiness, which you've now expanded upon.
You're spot on with the "trickiness" of it. It's tempting and very easy to "give in" and follow the standard and most-common experience of "ejaculation=orgasm". It's a difficult (I am tempted to say "habit", but that's not completely accurate) link to break and takes a lot of self-awareness, effort, and TBH, almost requires a completely trusted and collaborative partner to accomplish. While there are exercises and practice that someone can do on their own, to fully explore it, you need a partner and have to trust them deeply and "let them take the wheel" in order to completely let go of your own attempts to control your reactions/responses, let them handle your stimulation, and mutually communicate freely and honestly as to how you are feeling/responding (verbally and non-verbally). It's certainly uncommon (otherwise more people would know about it and practice it), but for those who have the interest and situation that allows them to explore, learn and experience it? It can take the shared intimacy as well as the physical, emotional, and mental pleasure to completely unimaginable levels. Here's a Google search with some reference material and resources. Seems really tricky though. I'm pretty decent at nutting and then being ready to go again/just keep going, but I've never climaxed without blowing my load.
It's a learned/taught/discovered ability. Most people discover and learn about orgasm through self-exploration and tend to find "something that works for them" and once they are satisfied with that, they stop exploring and learning other amazing things that their bodies and brains are capable of doing. Nothing wrong with that. Years and years (or lots of repetition) can make it difficult for someone to envision or even try to later find "something new". We're creatures of habit and once we're comfortable/satisfied that "we've got this figured out", many of us can't see that we're in a rut, and don't see any possibility (or attraction) in exploring further. That's not a judgement and I don't think that it's a "bad thing" that people find a comfort zone and then stick to it. But there is (almost always) more to learn and more to experience, no matter how confident we are that we've "mastered" something.

Men are physically capable of multiple orgasms, it does require a good amount of practice, conditioning and starts with the realization that orgasm and ejaculation are two separate events. Two separate events that (for men) commonly occur simultaneously, but that don't necessarily have to. Once that is understood and experienced, then the practicing can begin and the individual can learn how the two interact and how each can be...... influenced.
As others have mentioned, it can be..... extremely intense, even overwhelming to the point where the person experiencing is feeling such an intense physical and personal reaction that there is (to one extent or another) a loss of self-control, a shift of awareness (your brain goes into a mode that most people don't commonly experience) and deep emotional exposure. Due to that "vulnerability" (which isn't the right word, it is hard to accurately put into words, but it is a profound exposure of one's entire self) the event is best experienced (or practiced) with two participants who deeply trust, understand each other and are willing to work together on the shared goal.

This comes out with barely a quarter of the userbase who has put enough commitment in the site to make even 50 posts. And two thirds of that 25% have gone on to make at least 1,000 posts. So there is a very large proportion of even the most minimally committed users who could be judged to be quite committed to the forum.
I didn't realize that membership and posting was a commitment. Clearly, I have commitment issues. It's not you, it's me. Does this mean that we should see other people?
