i think the only people to have done a remake successfully are 343 with their CEA and H2A remasters. They were faithfully retextured with the exact geometry of the originals still intact. that's my main problems with what i've seen so far. something is off about the remake the detracts from the game for me.
I think the remakes of Ruby and Sapphire pokemanz did a good job too. Same with the newest Fire Emblem. Resident Evil 1 as well.

I saw it with a friend last night. I came in with low expectations, but aside from a moment or two, the movie was actually surprisingly good if you ask me. Completely different in plot than what I saw of trailers, almost felt like two halves really (one in virtual world, one IRL).
It had a Goonies feel to it for me, and I mean that in the best possible way. Every artist has their sort of signature thing, and for Spielberg it always seems to be kids going on some adventure against bad grown ups (and large crowds for whatever reason). As basic a concept as it is, it was still enjoyable. Can't really say much without spoiling, but if you're on the fence about going to see it, you might as well. It's better than seeing another Marvel movie with the same cookie cutter plot line.

Yeah I'm looking forward to this. I racked up a little more than 300 hours on Attila (my fav TW), but one of the main criticisms I have on it is the optimization and it's why Rome 2 is more preferable to me between the two now.
Hope this turns out pretty great.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance if you want an RPG (medieval, though it's still buggy. Wait probably) experience (or FF: XV. This game is surprisingly good to me and i'm surprised they retained a lot of the old classic stuff far better than 13 ever did)

I'd like to add that history is good for the context of the times we live in too, since a lot of the issues we are facing today are almost always due to decisions in the past, sometimes centuries old.
For example WW1, a big reason the Middle East is in a hell hole it is now is because the British and French empires promised the Arabs their own land after WW1 in fighting the Turks, only they didn't do that and it led to grouping people up who hated each other, and splitting people who wanted to be together. You're seeing the same effect in the middle east.
It also gave rise to a radical version of Islam that came from the House of Saud, called Wahhabism (it's basically an ultra conservative fundamentalist view on Islam), and they spread that around due to the power via oil they had, and the land they conquered. It helped spawn the terrorists sects you see today (with the help of modern decisions). Does that mean the Middle East was super peaceful and would be that way had it worked differently? Probably not. It was always a place where a lot of fighting took place.
I think that sort of stuff is important to know, lest you succumb to the ignorance and propaganda you're often subjected to on TV and websites. Then you get very sweeping and stupid statements like "islam is the reason the middle east is a shit hole", when forgetting about everything that took place around it going back even further in time (hello Mongols, you sacked Baghdad, the hub world of science and knowledge. You mean to tell me when this all burns there won't be repercussions? There are repercussions of one dude dying by a self driven Tesla car, and that's a blip on the radar).

With what we know about German involvement in the July Crisis, the Schlieffen Plan, the use of chemical weapons against Russia on January 31, 1915 (then once again April 22 on the Western front), and their failure to negotiate a peace with Russia early in the war (due to Germany's unwillingness to cease hostilities against France and GB) shows that Germany did play a role in kindling the war and it becoming the monstrosity we know it as today.
Russia definitely played a major role, though, equal at least to Germany.

Not even a couple weeks in and this game is getting flak for not featuring black people.
Because as well know, medieval Bohemia had an abundance of sub saharan africans.
It was getting flak before launch, and the lead dev didn't exactly help himself with how he was acting like a man child, even if his frustrations with revisionist history to include diversity is entirely warranted issue is usually alt righters/racists use that argument too, so it's key to articulate yourself for wanting accuracy whilst separating yourself from those idiots. This dude was wearing stuff like this  guy is a bit daft and doesn't necessarily seem to get what "PR" means That being said, yeah one or two articles claimed it was racist before launching, but the internet gives everyone a voice, and you always see this. If there was really outrage, you'd hear about it left and right, when in reality it's just an article or two vying for clicks, so nothing to bat your eyes at. Game is viewed as a success and it's selling very well, so we'll probably see a sequel with (hopefully) ironed out things.

i prefer direct democracy, and the removal of private interests from the conversation completely. china does still try to justify itself as democratic, since socialism is in theory the ultimate form of democracy, and maintaining socialist rhetoric is just part of how they maintain power.
Only issue with direct democracy is how long it'd take for literally anything to get passed
in ancient times it'd make sense, but with 300 million people in the US alone, could you imagine how long it'd take to do anything?
Also I'd have to disagree with you on the China thing
there's nothing to disagree about on china. they maintain a baseline stance in support of a vaguely democratic concept as part of their government justification. it's not just part of the socialist rhetoric, but also goes back to sun yat-sen and the chinese republic; everyone in power in china since sun yat-sen's time has done this, connecting themselves to his democratic ideals to maintain a sense that they carry his legacy.
Hm, I see I'll have to research into that, it sounds interesting.
