Besides--you TOLD ME that I could play the entire game Hollow, and it wouldn't make a difference. So, thanks for lying.
I'm sorry I forgot a very subtle mechanic in a game I've not played in a few years until I broke it down and looked it up in a post.

Forgive me for lying.

No, it's something I highly recommend doing. As in, you probably won't beat the game otherwise. If you wanna complain about it taht much as if you're making some statement, just kill yourself right after you upgrade it to go hollow again. Just make sure to pick up your stuff, but you only need to use one to upgrade, so the only thing you'd lose is souls (if you dont buy/level up).
Nope, I'm going full Hollow. There's absolutely no reason I should have to risk getting invaded just to play the game.
Just to play the game

I don't think you even understand how invading even works.

But whatever, be hard headed. I'm not gonna argue something you'll hear none of.

Edit: And it's not a flaw. Just because it's some design you don't enjoy, doesn't make it a flaw. It's called a risk reward factor, and everyone who actually plays the game enjoys that.

try being human, in my time of playing DS, so far, i havent been invaded besides the NPC invaders. im guessing its only cause im on NG and not on NG ++++++ whatever. or maybe im not in the populated invading areas. either way, do it before bosses, it helps a ton.

oh, and youll hate the iron golem, fuck his hitboxes.
In what way does it help? I was told that there would be no difference in gameplay whatsoever.
1) You can call for help NPC and other players more often. Just use the white sigh, which can be found mostly next to the arenas, where you fight with bosses.
2) You can encounter additional "attractions" - sometimes special NPC attack you or you can be a witness of other situations. In some cases this means obtaining several additional items.
3) If you have high Humanity level, your chance of item drops from enemies is higher. You can also increase defense against curse.
4) As a human you can light on the fire and obtain more Estus Flask.

So really, if you're adamant about avoiding it, only go human to get more for the Estus, which you unlock later down the road. Upgrading bonfires is something you want to do though.

>omitting a feature put in by the developers is the only correct way to play the game

?
Yes, because player invasions are objectively shit, and the game is infinitely better without them.
lmao
Consent is everything.
Relax, Verb. Don't go bringing that into games please.

You can easily say PvP is shit and be done with it, please and thank you.

You know, dark souls 2 is easier......

Depends, actually. I've probably had a lot more deaths in 2 than in the first one. Mainly because 2 can throw some really cheap shit your way.

There was never a single encounter in the first souls game that had you dealing with 11 something, hard hitting/stunlocking enemies at the same time or six mini-bosses at the same time. I mean sure there's a fuck load of healing options, way more than the first game.

But I'd like to see you try and heal when you're getting stun locked by 12 dogs and some cunt with a spear in a tiny boxed in area.

Or just play pre-patch shrine of amana without a ranged weapon and see how that works out.
Artificial difficulty by throwing adds at you!

First playthroughs should always be experienced without telling him a build he should do, or what to do first. Just general rules of never using firekeeper souls, if enemies are way too strong in one area, maybe you're not ready yet and can go someplace else, leveling resistance is worthless, and.... exhaust all NPC dialogue and don't attack any friendly NPC's (for the most part).

It's not my PC if one specific game option crashes in a game where everything else would work. Trying something else. Probably my FoV mod.

Here you come with your dogmatic views once more.

Lay off a bit, huh? You don't have to interject in a sports thread, why everyone should not care and how they're retarded for doing so. Don't bash on what people care about in terms of entertainment It's a real piece of shit thing to do.
you like to use that word, "dogmatic," but i'm not sure if you know what it means
Dogmatic: Inclined to lay down principles as incontrovertibly true. In this case, you say all sports are stupid, period, end of discussion.

Quote
i don't understand how it's a piece of shit thing to do to express an opinion different than your own--especially considering that if you did the same thing to me and one of my interests, i wouldn't really care

it's not really a big deal--i'm not putting a gun to your head and telling you to stop watching football, so i really don't see a problem
There is nothing wrong expressing your opinion, it's just how you personally express it. If you say you couldn't care less for sports, and can't possibly understand why anyone cares this much, that's fine. But you literally said "Sports are fucking stupid and no one should care about them." That just comes off as someone who's a bit of a dick and can't even possibly understand that people can like different things, even if you disagree with them.

Quote
discussion is not somehow halted or curtailed when i come into one of these threads--you don't have to respond
That's true, but it goes off topic into something not even intended for the original thread, like the one we're having now.

Humans care about such silly things.
"Oh I'm so personally affected by David Bowie's death."

"What, something somebody else cares about I in peril?

How silly."
I never said it wasn't silly of me to be personally affected by David Bowie's death, but at least it makes more sense.

Sports are fucking stupid and no one should care about them.
Here you come with your dogmatic views once more.

Lay off a bit, huh? Don't bash on what people care about in terms of entertainment. It's a real piece of shit thing to do.

In a lot of in depth open world games, all the shit around you CAN be daunting, because you don't know exactly where to start, or how much accomplishment you're getting from it in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah, I know that feeling entirely. I zoomed out in TW3 map and saw all those question marks and said to myself "this is gonna be a grind isn't it?"

I didn't even look at the map. I rode my horse to some fat spanish guy in a tower then gave up because I had no clue
That's just the smallest area of TW3 too

Game's huge

Thankfully it's not grindy, and the quests are usually pretty unique, more than fetch quests and usually have neat little stories to them

I might give it another shot en
I can back that up. Practically every quest in the game has a moral decision(s) that needs to be made and many of them affect what happens later on as well. Doesn't really do anything brand new as far as RPGs or Open Worlds go, but I've never played a game with such a rich world and story before; believable too.
Agreed with this. My main surprise was the invading empire, Nilfgaard, wasn't the generic "hurr durr evul and oppressive" empire you're used to in any fantasy ever. Instead you actually saw them helping the citizens out, enforcing laws to get order back, and a bunch of other things empires actually freaking do.

I was pleasantly surprised by it all.
I was about to say that I thought the Nilfgaardians are in the wrong, then I remembered literally every faction and person in the game is either a piece of shit, or a piece of shit trying to do good in the world (problem is, everyone thinks they're doing good).

Legit Early-ish Game Spoilers:
Spoiler
Before I got into the groove of playing the game, the only motive I had to play it was to resolve the Baron's story as I found it to be much more relate-able then the main quest (first Witcher game after all). So I didn't know the game was so heavy on moral decisions. Thought it was sort of strange how complex a sub-plot was becoming. Anyway, I'm dealing with the Crones and I have the choice to release the Druid-spirit-thingy. He says he'll free the orphans because the Crones have taken them. So I tell him to hold on and head over to the orphanage. Well they're gone, so I decide he's telling the truth, and let him free.

Then later on I began to realize how much I fucked up. Find out the dude murdered an entire village. Find out he took the kids to god knows where. Baron's wife dies as a result. *holyshit*

Head back to Crow's Perch to get my reward and console the Baron. See he's hanging from the tree. Find out his thug subordinates have taken over.

Fucking
Right
In
The
Feels

Wanted to shut the game off at that point, but then I realized why the game got GOTY. Jesus. Never thought'd I'd have to choose between saving a handful of orphans, or ensuring the prosperity and safety of Crow's Perch.

Now I can't go back to Crow's Perch without feeling sad. ;_;
Damn, that's... rough lol. Yeah that's why I love it. It doesn't shy away from the brutalities of war. Talks about rape, seeing hangings, etc. And yeah, the whole "everyone thinks they're in the right" is a very human thing which I love.

They're not evil at all, it actually feels like real empires/kingdoms at war, and it's really cool

i love how fleshed out the world is

I mean, it comes from a book series, so they have a lot to go off, but they've done it so well
Yeah that's true, I forgot it was from the books. Easily GOTY.

If you want loli then it's Lalafell. If you want kawaii than it's the Au Ra, the expansion class. They were gonna make the girls as big as the males, but seeing as the female Roegadyn (big class) are the least played, they went with a kawaii one instead. An example.

fuck

i don't have money for this kawaii shit

or a PC that can run it
It's on PS4 if you have it.

Famfrit is the group server, and I main a bard but am currently trying a Dark Knight (Expansion tank), and have a level 50 Ninja. Something I really want to do is do some end raid content that doesn't suck, but that's a lot to ask for with the current state of things. At the very end of everything btw.

Hopefully the next patch makes raids better and less of a grind fest than what we've been dealt.
