I don't like quotes that try to simplify things that are extremely complicated.

This being one of them.

I don't believe life can be lived to a decent degree of thrill, excitement, and happiness without dabbling in some questionable or risky activities here and there. Of course, that isn't to say I condone usage of hard drugs like coke, heroine, or any of that shit, but smoking weed, drinking, or taking a shroom every now and then isn't going to do anything particularly harmful (There seems to be a surprisingly large number of people in this thread misinformed about the neurological consequences of psilocybin- There really aren't any). I don't consider any one of these activities particularly stupid in their own right, it's generally a matter of the company and environment that they're combined with.

Risk something no activity is truly free of. There are always chances of horrendous consequences in any sort of action you decide to take. The important aspect of living freely, and with a bit of room for "Experiencing" what the world has to offer, is accounting for the variables that could lead to a bad outcome, and making a judgement. Regarding weed... I can't think of many things that could go wrong in my case. I smoke maybe once every two or three weeks, and it's always in the company of other people, generally in a secluded dorm room with no greater chance of injury than if we weren't high to begin with.

Partaking in these sorts of things is always paired with the chance of a nasty consequence, but that chance is very minimal. The situational capacity for a wrong turn is the same if I go on a roller coaster, go skydiving, or even take a trip down the road to buy a salad. But through self-limitation, responsible company, and infrequency, there's really nothing to be afraid of. I understand Verb's very cut-and-dry argument of "It's stupid, you shouldn't do it," but thinking that philosophy through, it's applicable to practically anything. I don't want to live my life in a box made of industrial steel.

The "Absolute madman!" meme coming out of this is fucking hysterical, to be honest.

Be a friend and go check on your friend's mother, Christ.
Do you understand how weird of a position this is to be put in? Obviously not. I've never spoken to this woman in my life.

I'll go, but my friend is an asshole for not calling her. That's my point.
You're right, him not making the call personally is... Bizarre. I'd ask for an explanation afterwards. That being said, it's still a nice gesture; albeit one you really shouldn't have to be doing.

dafuq?

how does that even kill a spartan?
why do the games have fall damage?

because gameplay reasons
Yeah, but this isn't for balance or gameplay, it's how an animation looks. A knife at least makes slightly more sense than a wrestling move that wouldn't even kill an unaugmented human.
Using all of your strength to smash somebody into the ground head-first could definitely snap their neck and kill them.

Who's Arky?
Some Bnet member killed himself, told a friend of his that he was going to on Skype beforehand
Oh, that's terrible.
Yes, very. he was also known as Chaos Fighter, if that helps you know who it is.
He was Chaos Fighter? Yeah, of course I know him. He and I talked regularly on TFS.

Shit, I had no idea... How recently was this? Couldn't have been too far back, his Bungie.net account has Destiny stats.

Okay if my hair line was that bad I'd kill people too
That's not the actual shooter, it's just a picture of a guy people toss around on /b/ all the time.

I'm not sure if I'd date a girl who's 6'5".
Definitely not into muscles.
Honestly, she'd probably be a skelly at 6'5.

There's an ignore feature on this site?
If you're a pussc.

I mean, yeah, I used it for a little awhile--but I got over it.
I wasn't suggesting I was going to use it, I just didn't know if it existed.

I mean, when he posts a thread with literally twenty pictures of gay porn shots, I get pretty inclined to ignore him, too.

Foreign Language is honestly the only topic I can't ever seem to find interesting. In most cases for me, it's a matter of how the material is given to me. I've never been super interested in politics, but my current World Politics professor is so lively, energetic, and intelligent, that the class is very interesting, and it's sparked a sense of curiosity in me. You can make any subject dull, or you can make any subject boring; it's all about presentation.

When will you ever learn proper English?
When ever you learn 3 languages. When ever that time comes then you have the right to bitch at me .

That doesn't even make any fucking sense. Do you run this shit through google translate or something?
That sentence made perfect sense, though.

Ouch you live in Hurricane Country
Well, yeah, but I've never actually experienced a Hurricane. If you live on the East coast in the US, you might get some remnants of the storm, but it'll never be anything like what's experienced in the Southeastern portions of the country. By the time it reaches Massachusetts, it's just a moderately stronger rain storm than we're use to.

The Flood / Re: When the power out?

Depends on the type of weather, I suppose. If it's the Summer, just go outside, because there's plenty to do. If it's the Winter, well, shit. I guess you stay inside, dick around on your phone, or play cards.

The only time I've ever lost power for a substantial amount of time was during the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, when the residual parts of the storm moved up the coast and went over New England. No power for almost a week; all our food spoiled and we spent most of the time at our grandmother's house, where there was still power.

Lifting.

I use to dick around with music production, but the sacrifices to my physical health were, uh, substantial. Sitting on your ass for hours at a time tinkering with Massive and Ableton took its toll. I'd rather go outside.
