You said there are people that need to be buzzed in order to talk to people. Therefore that person would probably be buzzed most of the time. That person is an alcoholic.
I was talking about when they go out to parties and big social events. I'm not talking about some slob who walks around and shotguns a beer whenever they have to order food at Subway.

It is kind of pussy-ish to need to drink to be social.

Like, making up for your bad people skills with alcohol is pretty dumb and says something about your capacity to talk to people.
Since alcohol makes you incoherent I doubt there's anyone that uses it to talk to people. That's like getting high to try and understand calculus.
It's not even close. People get buzzed so they're more relaxed and can talk to people. That's a fact.
Then that person is an alcoholic.
So if some guy goes to a party every like two or three weeks and drinks some beer so he can relax and feel more comfortable, he's an alcoholic?

Nobody really does this though except alcoholics, which is universally vilified. People drink socially because it gives you something to do with your friends, and at the same time makes most people more cheerful, relaxed, and open to new experiences. It provides basically the same function as any other shared activity, like a meal, a sport, a movie, etc. To ridicule people for drinking socially is essentially making the argument that socialization is best done devoid of any outside stimuli that could possibly affect your interactions with people. It's inane.
I don't really think it's as black and white as "Only alcoholics do it, everyone else is just trying to relax." Someone should have the capacity to be cheerful, relaxed, and open to new experiences in the absence of alcohol, so I'd argue that someone capable of accomplishing those things is more socially adept than somebody who needs to have at least a buzz going to be exploratory.

I also don't think it's fair to compare alcohol consumption to sports, a meal, or any other activity you use to socialize. None of those things impair your ability to think rationally and be yourself, they just direct attention towards something that everyone has a shared focus on. Alcohol is functionally different.

Again, I'm not a super anti-alcoholic guy -Certainly not on Verb's level, I just don't enjoy it and much prefer accomplishing tasks without being hammered. I've been drunk within the past three weeks at parties, I just usually regret doing it because I end up waking up the next morning feeling gross.

I've never understood how someone can develop such a taste for alcohol that any sort of hard liquor tastes good to them, even in mixed drinks. All alcoholic beverages are worse to me than a non-alcoholic counterpart with roughly the same ingredients. Getting drunk is a bad idea, but I wouldn't be so against doing it to myself if the process of getting drunk didn't involve drinking something that tastes like melted rubber and kerosene.
depends on the liquor. ive had some frozen mixed drinks that taste like HEAVEN, and ive had framboise that tastes better than most sodas ive had.
I can tell when there's a even a hint of alcohol in a drink you give me, and I never consider it a good thing. It's like, sure, you might be able to toss a bunch of flavoring over it, but you're doing it because alcohol doesn't taste good to begin with.

I've read some girls masturbate to lesbian porn, so I'm not actually sure.

I mean, I think gay porn is fuckin' gross, but maybe some dudes out there actually like it for the same reason some girls like lesbian porn.

Does Midget even count?
He's legit dumb but he turns it up to 11 when he's here, because one certain user still takes his bait.
I've always thought he was just a troll, and I'm not sure why he's allowed on Serious.

I mean his name is literally "Niggerbot 9000" so I thought that was enough of a giveaway.

This place surprises me with how conservative it can be, it's very unique for an internet forum- They tend to gravitate towards more liberal ideas.
I've been under the impression that the conservative members are just more vocal about their opinions.
Actually, you're probably right.
