turn-based RPGs are a flawed genre in that they often let RNG dominate the combat, but i still find them fun to play

And here is a good example of exactly why the Electoral College is needed, and why direct popular vote is a bad thing.
The popular vote normally wins anyway, only 4 times has the President won without the popular vote. Alongside this, the US is a democratic nation where people's views and thoughts should be equally represented, even if you disagree with said views.

All the games I pre-ordred this year turned out to be good, Bloodborne, MGSV and Fallout 4.
I guess I enjoyed MGSV because the only game I had played before it in the series was MGS4

You're gonna get upset at "realism" in a Fallout universe when you compare it to Fallout 1 and 2? The first thing wrong with any of these games is how radiation works. It's not at all realistic to how it works irl.
I wasn't comparing it really.
And in the fallout universe a lot of things don't work the same way as they do irl, that's one of the reasons why it's a fiction.
I'm saying its unrealistic in how the character just decides to take over Nevada all of the sudden.
Well they don't really, in three cases they find out the bigger picture of what's going on and make a choice of what to do with the chip, or in the case of the NCR just helping them out seems they never ask for the chip.

I'm much more open to the idea that mass surveillance is actually helpful, despite being a unilateral human rights abuse. The recent tensions re: refugees and the possibility of extremists hiding among them is what prompted me to have a little more faith in the PATRIOT Act and America's ability to keep the people safe.
The issue with this is that France passed their own surveillance laws after Charlie Hebedo, yet that didn't manage to stop the attack at all.
