Now Google needs to invent holograms so the A.I can have physical avatars.
i think i should inform you that volumetric holograms already exist

Wait really? o.O
Tupac hologram?

I thought that was just a 2D one though <.<
The Tupac and Vocaloid holograms, whilst really fucking impressive, are still just images projected onto a gigantic screen of glass iirc >.>

Just like everything else in 40k, that looks horrendously inefficient.

Who needs efficiency when you can level a city with a single tank .-.
But you've hardly got the internal storage to carry enough ammo of the massive caliber!

You might be missing the scale of it <_<

Yup, it's 40k in a nutshell

Bigger is betta

Google has announced a partnership with leading research teams from Oxford University to further develop its artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

DeepMind, the UK-based AI company that Google acquired earlier this year, will work with Dark Blue Labs and Vision Factory at the university to accelerate research efforts in image recognition and natural language understanding.

"They will be spearheading efforts to enable machines to better understand what users are saying to them," Dennis Hassabis, co-founder of DeepMind, said in a statement. "Google DeepMind has hired all seven founders of these startups with the three professors holding joint appointments at Oxford University where they will continue to spend part of their time.

"These exciting partnerships underline how committed Google DeepMind is to supporting the development of UK academia and the growth of strong scientific research labs."

A "substantial" donation to Oxford University will be made by Google DeepMind as part of the collaboration, which will help fund student internships as well as a series of lectures and workshops in the field.

AI Advances

Google's latest bid to boost its AI research capabilities comes just one month after announcing that it would be building quantum computing processors to expand AI technologies.

The Quantum Artificial Intelligence (QAI) team operating out of UC Santa Barbara aims to harness the vast potential of quantum computers in the field of AI.

The QAI team is expected to focus on creating AI capable of creativity, while DeepMind will work on "general" AI systems able to make independent decisions and predictions.

"It is a really exciting time for Artificial Intelligence research these days, and progress is being made on many fronts," Hassabis said.

"We are thrilled to welcome these extremely talented machine learning researchers to the Google DeepMind team and are excited about the potential impact of the advances their research will bring."

Seems pretty obvious, but in the light of recent events probably not obvious enough.

Indeed, I thought that this was all fairly obvious and self explanatory but apparently a few members either simply want something to moan about or didn't understand it <.<

The Flood / Re: ITT: Talk about your best friends
« on: October 24, 2014, 03:20:31 PM »
Hmm <.<

Well I have two best friends
Spoiler
The first I met through the gifted program in Middle school. We were put into groups and were asked to translate a bunch of Dutch <.< There were also kitkats given out. The point of the exercise was to do with Cognates and how you can get the rough meaning of a sentence if the language is similar to your own. This was about 7-8 years ago <.<
We were friendly rivals throughout school, Not like the asshats of pokemon rivals (gary) but friends in a competition <.< We were pretty evenly matched on a lot of things for quite a while, so there was always the drive to try and outdo each other heh <.< I have a lot of fond memories of simply playing or wandering and getting into mischief, typical childhood things >.>

One time we were supposed to be going back to his house for dinner after school and the asshole busdriver wouldn't stop at the bus stop for us. So we ended up getting off at the next one and having to walk a few miles through some fields and lanes that neither of us particularly knew well. We made it though, but it was good fun lol.

Then as Highschool began we started to show different aptitudes for different subjects, as you would expect <.< He excelled at things like Maths and Physics whilst I was better at things like Biology and History, but things continued to diverge along those lines and whilst he excelled at academics he wasn't the best at dealing with people. Such as irate teachers, malicious Neo Nazi Fuhrers (A story for another time) and classmates which became my specialty <.<

So essentially whilst we were both top tier for the academics, he went further ahead than I and I became better at dealing with people and leading the group. We also took up Japanese when it was offered to us in a Spanish lesson as it seemed like it could be quite interesting and different. It certainly was and we spent a few years going to another school after our school to attend the lessons <.<

By the time we reached sixth form, it was fairly clear that he was going to be dealing with hardcore maths and physics and I was going to be dealing with humans <.< My plan was to go into medicine buuuut then I fell ill and had to leave so that was that and now I'm going to be a Psychologist instead >.>

I don't see him much now that he's off to university, but when he returned home over the summer it was great to see him and even though it had been about 18 months since I'd last seen him it was if it was only yesterday hehe >.>

Bloody hell that's long and it's only one of them. .-.
Reminiscing is fun.

Time for round 2!
Spoiler
My other best friend I met in my last year of middle school, he transferred in from another one and we quickly became friends through a mutual love of violent games and films :D
I have a lot of fond memories of going to his house after school and playing GTA:SA, GTA 4, Prototype, if he ever reads this... even Far Cry 2 ;_; and watching all kinds of wonderful films, like one of my alltime favourites - American Psycho -

We also had a lot of fun at school, avoiding lessons like the plague and getting it all done in five minutes outside of it (In the library) to then spend the rest of the hour on Not Doppler lol. And this is where the story about the Neo Nazi fuhrer would be relevant <.< but the short version is that there was an unnecessary amount of trouble caused by one of the staff at the school and we managed to outplay them at their own game on numerous occasions eventually winning the war when the Headteacher sided with us e.e

He went to a different sixth form to myself so for a time we didn't see each other as much as in high school but then when he had finished and I'd left over poor health we now get to meet up once or twice a month to play games/watch films and chat haha.

We went to see The Raid 2 in the cinema when it was airing in bongistan, and that was just glorious. Two hours of the most wondeful carnage ever created to grace the screen, with a good story and none of the depraved shit that always ruins such wonderful violent films ;o;

It easily took on the first film and American Psycho for being in my favourite films ever category <.<

Lawdy me that's a ramble <_<

It's still funny that you have servants though. People like me know what to do with servants. People like you guys... don't. I mean. Look at you.

Lol, I suppose so <.<

We have a housekeeper because our mother went batshit and ran off to the other end of the country >.> They help keep the place running and do some of the cooking and cleaning <.<
It's invaluable really, if you think of how low standards would become in a house full of male teenagers... with only myself and my father having any standards at all when it comes to tidiness and cleanliness .-.

Weell that's a little unfair, but it's not massively exaggerated <.<
